Sweden TT as a whole is a mess, its a insult that our main fighter couldn’t even be slightly well represented. Again, as Smin stated unless we have an official document for the SAAF gripen stating what model it is both the Hungarian and Swedish gripens dont get to have their MS20 or other unique upgrades.

i mean, south africa is a funny nation as they for a while used nothing that was on the gripen besides the gun and maybe a few bombs, hungary is similar i think but thats a different thread
Idk the SAAF gripen is pretty interesting, they keep having money problems trying to keep their air force up and went to other companies for cheaper alternatives leading to some unique and cool upgrades on their gripens to cut down on maintenance costs. In 2020 they ended up needing to ground all of their gripens and in 23 they got a few back up and flying after taking a deal with SAAB to get repairs and some minor upgrades though nothing like the MS20 deal SAAB wanted them to buy in 2018.
Again i have no problem except for the SAAF gripen getting upgrades that they never used from a model they never bought. Again its a double standard that doesn’t apply to all aircraft.

Im pretty sure all gripens have stuff they shouldnt, namely cas stuff
Depends im fine if you can mount the stuff but GBU-39 was only added with the MS20 as it required an upgrade to the avionics to guide and launch them. With the MS20 we also move up to the PS0/5A MK.IV radar from the MK.III we are still using the radar from the MS17 on the JAS39A. Again so many problems caused by adding a C and the A at the same time and then further more by simplifying the C models to just the C and not their individual MS versions.

Not entirely i dont remember if the MS + stuff ever came out for the Gripen C yet. It was planned i know that but haven’t seen anything else besides MS20 is the current max for the Gripen C as the MS21 is for the Gripen E.
Additionally MS20 brings Meteor to the loadout which would make it go up regardless. MS19 brings the IRIS-T missile which is the end of the line for the SAAF gripen, but as gaijin seems to not care the SAAF gripen will probably be upgraded to the MS20 standard for no reason.

No reason to, when the JA37Di exists, additionally RB74M was added since they can mount AIM 9m, theres a bit of evidence of RB74 being upgraded with irccm on the JA37Di which i think was passed to the devs so no reason to change the A as it is rn. Additionally not having HMD would make it a pointless 13.3 and honestly worse over the JA37Di imo.

What? No you misunderstood. What i was saying is that the MS20 is the end of the line of the Swedish Gripen C. I personally wouldn’t be suprised if gaijin skips the Gripen C MS20 in favor of the E since they already messed up with the C models to begin with. Additionally technically all gripens in game are MS20 as the GBU-39 was added with the MS20 package again another screw up on gaijins end from misinformation from players when they added it to the SAAF gripen. I personally dont care if it gets the GBU-39, but the radar and other air to air aspects of the MS20 should not and do not belong on the SAAF gripen.
The only thing from MS20 we have now is GBU-39, they didn’t even add GBU-49 which came with either MS19 or MS20, I am not entirely certain.
The only thing for the Gripen C we have now to become a MS18 is for it to get the MK3 radar with a range of ~160km lock range on a Su27 which is a number stated by Thai JAS39 pilots and jt correlates well with the fact that the 2015 upgraded MK3 (radar upgrade Sweden bought for the 2016 MS20 upgrade) got an increased range by 80% (striaght from SAAB) and was said to comfortably track airliners at over 300km. 160 * 1.8 = 288.
So Gripen C we have now is basically an MS18 variant without it’s radar, expanded ground armament from MS19 (when the plane became NATO compatible) and with the GBU-39 from MS20.

At present, South African Gripen C is a MS19 but SAAF service limited 5th gen infrared Air-to-Air Missile only

I was speaking of the radar, not the missiles of the Thai. They also under 2022 upgraded their fleet of JAS39C to MS20 standard.
But during that training exercise with the Chinese they were able to lock the Su27/J11 at a range of about 160km and that was with the MS19 in 2015 before upgrades were even initiated.
You skipped over the GBU-39 which was only fitted to MS20 gripens of which as we can see in game the SAAF gripen has them when IRL they never bought MS20. They do not have the avionics to use them and should not receive any of the other upgrades that the MS20 has as again they shouldn’t get them. You ignored my point entirely.

What are you on about? RTAF has in 2022 upgraded their Gripens to MS20. The upgrade is already complete. Bringing their planes up to standard doesn’t mean they need to buy all the weapon systems integrated on the airframe…
They have just recently announced that they will be buying JAS 39E/F for their next planes.
So right now they have MS20 JAS 39C/D, MS 20 is not just new weapon systems but the upgraded PS-05/A MK3 radar, upgraded EW suite, and more along with more weapons integrated. This doesn’t mean that they need to buy the integrated weapons.
In 2015 when that exercise with Thai JAS 39 Gripen and Chinese J11 took place they were the MS19 standard so with the standard PS-05/A MK3 radar.
As far as I know there are no (public at least) plans for further upgrades of the Thai C/D Gripens yet.
The only reason I mentioned the Thai here is due to the pilots talking about the 160 km tracking range of the radar. It doesn’t matter what their specific capabilities are in this forum as we don’t have that plane in the game as of now.
