SAAF JAS-39C Technical Data and Discussion

I know you can technically go every increment between 100% and 110%, but I thought it didn’t make any difference to the afterburner plume visual?

Visually no difference

Will extend your Tornado’s fuel while not totally murdering the thrust as well.

the difference in Minimum and Full afterburner can be seen visually

Yeah I use partial AB all the time in the f16. The thrust gain is huge with a marginal increase in fuel consumption.

We are to accept that you’re an expert who can tell what percentage of AB the Gripen is using from just a video recorded on someone’s phone?

Have a day off.

Its nice to have particularly as on controller the half burner trick wasn’t possible, though for a controller player ideally it would retain the same gradient sensitivity as normal thrust.

Yeah, even on a HOTAS, I feel like I have very little control between 100-110% thrust. Would also have been nice to have a configurable deadzone between 100-101% thrust

Might make a forum suggestion

Would be personally very desirable for me

Would be great if you could decrease the afterburner without it automatically going to 100%. At least that’s how it behaves for me. They could go up to 120% or higher to make it more controllable.

Yeah, If it was me id have:

  • Configurable deadzone between 100%-101% So that you could reliably enter and stay at 100%.
  • Increase the size of the reheat zone for further control (again this could be totally configurable) maybe 120% or maybe even higher
  • configurable sensitivity of the WEP zone independently of the main zone

(Id also just love to have configurable curvers for things like throttle but that aint happening in game)

Yesss, this is what I need more than anything. Let me slow it down by a factor of 10

Here’s a really cool tour of the Gripen by fighter pilot Mikael “duke” Grev, learnt some new stuff including the Gripens “balancing poles” to help with the unstable design

Also any feedback on the 2 center pylons getting there CAS functionality? I know they passed it to the devs before Alpha Strike yet i dont think they have been corrected.

not heard anything

i know there is a internal report for the radar

@Gunjob can you share some information on that report for the radar? I’m really curious to learn more about the PS-05/a
