SAAF JAS-39C Technical Data and Discussion

Would be great if you could decrease the afterburner without it automatically going to 100%. At least that’s how it behaves for me. They could go up to 120% or higher to make it more controllable.

Yeah, If it was me id have:

  • Configurable deadzone between 100%-101% So that you could reliably enter and stay at 100%.
  • Increase the size of the reheat zone for further control (again this could be totally configurable) maybe 120% or maybe even higher
  • configurable sensitivity of the WEP zone independently of the main zone

(Id also just love to have configurable curvers for things like throttle but that aint happening in game)

Yesss, this is what I need more than anything. Let me slow it down by a factor of 10

Here’s a really cool tour of the Gripen by fighter pilot Mikael “duke” Grev, learnt some new stuff including the Gripens “balancing poles” to help with the unstable design

Also any feedback on the 2 center pylons getting there CAS functionality? I know they passed it to the devs before Alpha Strike yet i dont think they have been corrected.

not heard anything

i know there is a internal report for the radar

@Gunjob can you share some information on that report for the radar? I’m really curious to learn more about the PS-05/a

he using info he has on blue vixen i believe

Marvin’s LAU-139 MRL for Gripen is different to Cobham’s CRL/MML shown there

This is LAU-139. It’s a bit more boxy in form than the Cobham CRL/MML

Modification for Gripen over 127/128/129 is those two hooked suspension lugs that interface directly with Gripen’s pylons, and the electrical socket being located behind the lugs rather than in the middle.

LAU-139 mounted on Gripen

Fear not though, LAU-127/128/129/139 can all have BOL adapters the same as CRL/MML

Hope they add the USMC harrier av8b. I’d want it as a squadron vehicle but there is already a squadron harrier. Otherwise it’d be a fun tt CAS

Only logical reason its not come yet, is they are planning it for 12.3 with AMRAAM sometime this year. Maybe in June assuming ARH come in that update.

We should’ve had the earlier variants of the Harrier II for all applicable parties in game for at least a couple updates now. AV-8B/Harrier II variants without AIM-120 shouldn’t have to wait for a large ARH missile update for implementation.

Im guessing it was because the US got a LOT of very strong high/top tier aircraft that would perform much the same role, but better. Sub-sonic CAS at 11.7 actually kinda sucks. From experience in the Gr7, The Tornado Is generally better because its faster. I imagine the same would be said for the AV-8B+ for the US. the F-14B and F-16C would outperform it massively. Meanwhile the AV-8B+ for Italy was needed as they were running out of native options (something the US has no issue with) and Britain needed the Gr7 as it was our only aircraft above 11.3 for 14 months.

In 2023 the US got:

  • F-14B
  • F-16C
  • F-111A
  • F-15A

Meanwhile Britain and Italy got:

Italy

  • Tornado ADV
  • AV-8B+
  • AMX

Britain

  • Tornado F3
  • Sea Harrier FRS1e
  • Gripen C

But a Sub-sonic ARH Carrier would be ideal for the US, something on-par with aircraft like the Sea Harrier FA2.
