This is really going to happen. Frustrating. Prototype or not, at least they could have done a better job modeling this one tho. I have been flying it in simulators and the cockpit is almost completely useless. It is not readable plus the targets on its map are in wrong places etc.
Just came to exercise my right to complain that having to use the AIM-120B/C & and AIM-9M makes me a sad clown. It’s like a well-prepared meal but they forgot to add seasoning.

@Michael-IR mayb look at @ZarathustraE’s acc on issues, they created a bunch of issues regarding issues of the cockpit
Maybe I could also write it over here if it gets a bit more attention, it might help.
JAS39E Gripen cockpit problems and possible solutions
As we progress through a mountain of problems with our new beloved Gripen, cockpit modelling is something that certainly needs close attention. There are a few important problems I have found with the functionality of HUD and MFDs. Mind you, these are not for aesthetics, rather problems directly affecting the gameplay and pilot’s performance. I would also like to add that these functionalities are compared to other planes in the game, therefore, not asking any new feature to bring but implement the simplest things that are already in the game. These might be simple but very useful if the pilot knows what s/he is doing.
I will try to explain the missing functions or unusable ones with the bug reports and you can all find the screenshots in these links.
1- The first one is that the fact that MFDs are not readable. Gripen E has one of the most advanced cockpits in the world perhaps on par with f-35. Even with many missing features in game, it still offers important data to the pilot. However, unable to read the MFD makes it completely useless. For reference to others, please see the link, discussion and screenshots below:
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/WOwjMbY8BfPf
(even though it says RWR for the sake of bug reporting, unfortunately, the whole MFD is not readable)
2- JAS39E Radar MFD not scaled to map BUG: Gripen E pilots have one of the best situational awareness out there. With the help of radar and datalink the gripen reflects where the enemies and friendlies on to your MFD map which makes the pilot’s job hell of a lot easier to find whatever the pilot is looking for. Incredibly important function implemented wrong. Not only useless but actually harmful. Link below:
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/hMlmzwsSI0qJ
3- JAS39E current cockpit model error: This is more of a roundup bug report, not mine but i believe the player would like to have the function to use the bigsreen as one MFD.
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/BAQwljrA2nLZ
4- JAS39E Gripen cockpit radar does not show whether on or off: Radar showing on or off is an important feature as we switch the radar off in many situations for example in a dogfight if your oponent loses visual of you, you would not want to give away your position or if you know where your oponent is but don’t want to give away your own location. Right now there is no indicator whether the radar is on or off. Link below:
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/yimoDaE2AVX5
5- JAS39E Gripen in cockpit radar not showing the type of radar: It is not possible to use the radar when we don’t know what type we are using, TWS, SRC etc. As you can see in the screenshots in the link, other aircrafts do not have this problem.
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/cQGW89FsjeL2
6- JAS39E Gripen not having a marked indicator in MFD map: When bombing, or simply guiding your way to a location, it is important that the MFD map in the cockpit to have indicators guiding you where you mark on the map. There is also info on distance and how long it would take you to go the marked place at current speed as well as how many degrees right or left you are off from your targeted area. Screenshots in the link belong to f16 and su30sm, however all the top tier planes have this functionality and it directly affect the gameplay and the pilot’s performance.

7- JAS39E Gripen not having a marked indicator in HUD: Similar to the topic above, HUD is missing information as well. You can see the screenshots in the link below:

There could be more problems with the cockpit of Gripen, however, these are the functions that I use the most when i am playing other planes.
Performance of a plane is not limited to its airframe, engines or the armament that it carries. Cockpit is the pilot’s home and it all begins there.
noticed a small issue in gripen-e’s cockpit passive information (rwr) screen:
What isn’t wrong with the Slopfests cockpit? Probably a smaller list than what is wrong
i feel like it was copied and then changed in only the most key aspects rn
Well yeah, not sure if we could start treating WT as a simulator. We don’t expect them to model it 100% but at least they could put the most used features. I just wanted to share the ones that i used the most and hoping people could get behind and support it so we can make it reach to the dev team.
Yeah, most of those are basically QOL parts of the cockpit that’d ease your time in sim
I have been gone for a while and sadly i can see the maws is not fixed yet but nice to seen all of the other changes done
After 10day of waiting my report finally got accepted, yay

True that but that is still inside the gameplay and necessary stuff. Interactive cockpit would be pushing it and of course i do not expect that.
This is nice to hear! I wonder how long it would take them to implement these accepted features. Hopefully, we dont have to wait too long.
It’s funny that on the radar the Rafale С shows its name, but the Rafale M is shown as having many turbojet engines.
With absolutely the same model.
It’s already been reported, and it’s not a Gripen E issue; the reporter originally demonstrated the bug on the Su-30SM2 and it seems like all detailed NCTR radars are missing it.
Does this mean we’ll be able to lock Fox 3s with IRST when fixed?
The MAWs not firing chaff was reported yeah?
