ammo has a 50:50 chance of exploding, it’s not a 100% chance of pulverizing a tank after hitting the ammo, and u should know it better than me.
as i said, RNG exists and i gave 2 examples of it happening to me. it’s also not the first time one of my shells doesn’t pen something that it should have penetrated like the side armor of a Surbaisse or the turret ring of a Somua.
if u miss the driver then the game rather trolled u or u aimed innacurately, and u should say thx for hitting the carrousel cuz instead of reloading in +10 secs without a loader, the russian tank only has 1 shot to kill u or disable u before he’s able of repairing itself (and plus, u can only repair the carrousel while idle, so u can’t just “ran away” while repairing it).
aim for the center of the LFP or the turret ring, both are wide and can disable the tank or one shot it. u can also aim for the mantlet which will disable the gun as min or disable the gun, kill the commander and destroy the carrousel.
You know those are the fundamental of Russia bias right? You know other MBT getting hit at those place = 90% instant return to base? Do you realise those shot making your OP Russian ERA and some weird optics went out is deadly to the others MBT?

if u didn’t know, the ERA is a 1-use piece of armor, after u hit it u’re able of penetrating the UFP.

Since nobody gave you an actual answer, you are supposed to select before launch wether you want the missile in AA or AT mode.
This is not modeled in WT the missile has proxy always on, and only proxies on flying stuff, so in a sense the Vikhr is still overperforming, but hardly in a useful way.
It very well might have been back when they got added since everyone was desperate to see the Vikhr nerfed.
And while I agree that it’s one of the many features that should be in the game for the sake or realism and control, I don’t think Gaijin thinks it fits the simplicity of the game.
In real life, the pilot selects in the cockpit if the target is air or ground. Selecting air activates the proxy fuse but also means the missile will blow up near trees, houses, or even the ground itself.
In War Thunder, Gaijin made it much stronger because reasons. The missile automatically chooses which mode it should be in depending on its altitude. Close to ground, disable proxy fuse, high enough activates it.
This is because it was nerfed after FOUR years of ruining the game. Its drag, agility, etc were corrected to real life. The old Vikhr was able to catch a plane doing an 8G turn at Mach 1. You could also guide as many as you wanted before, which meant Roland AA with 2 missiles were hard countered by the Ka-50/52, not the other way around. The Ka-50 shot 3 Vikhr, 2 intercepted the Roland’s own AA missiles, and the third killed the Roland. You can’t do that anymore.

In fact, the Vikhr is why Helicopter PVP died. The Ka-50 was in such numbers and ruined the gamemode so much for other helicopters(the only way not to die was to hug the ground and pray the contact fuse didn’t hit you) that they scrapped heli PVP and added PVE instead of fixing the Vikhr.
Do you even look at stat cards before you cry OP? LMUR is 0.9 Mach, JAGM is 340m/s… speed of sound or Mach 1 is ~343m/s at sea level. They are basically the same speed.
And yes the loft angle of JAGM etc needs fixing, but currently it puts them at the same average kills per takeoff all else being equal (except the PARS)
Stat cards are literally useless. The fact you’re using it like a bible shows how little you understand about the game. The number you gave is unusable. Does it keep 340 m/s for only an instant? For most of the flight? Half the flight? You don’t know right?
Here are some concrete numbers:
The LMUR has a booster two times stronger than the JAGM booster(11250(N) vs 5756(N)), though lasting 1 less second, then a sustainer also giving two times more Newtons of thrust(765(N) vs 370(N)). Despite the LMUR having a bit more drag and weight, it has a monster engine to make up for it.
doest change the fact that it one shot mbt or take only one hammer to destroy 3 sams close to each other. yes it slow but hammer and kh38mt are the most powerful a no other munition have these kind of power of destruction.
