Yea, but isn’t exactly news that Vikhrs were and still are the best manual guided heli weapons.
It was dev, not live server.
I have no idea. I would only be happy if kh38mt and hammer were annihilated by the implementation of their guidance. Although after the introduction of new spaa kh38mt were ± balanced.
That’s not the point, the seeker capabilities of the missile are completely and utterly false in game, how did they even address the problem of the seeker overheating while travelling at Mach 2?
The seeker sensitivity is way too low and the resolution would be abysmal based on the brochure, making the lock range be extremely limited, basically it would only lock anything at the terminal phase.
This missile was designed to hit stationary targets, basically electrical substations/factories and maybe targets out in the sea, hence why it has IOG. The IR capabilities are only there in case the missile found itself in a GPS denied area and needed more precision than GNSS or laser could provide in such scenario.
I’d be okay with the missile being in game if it was represented realistically, but LMUR has superseded it. The real Kh-38MT would not be able to lock tanks in the slightest, at least not well within 5 to 6 or so kilometers, why would this missile even be used to hit tanks in real life?
Pilots would not be able to see targets at the 70 km stand-off range, and nothing guarantees the mechanized targets will be there by the time the missile gets within IR lock.
That’s why I don’t think this missile would’ve seen any anti-tank use, the real ML missile is being used to hit hard targets like bridges and structures and I don’t doubt the MT would’ve seen similar use, except for hot targets like factories and electrical substations.
And it’s no wonder why the missile saw no commercial interest, when cheaper and more readily available alternatives exists, specially things like Geran drones, they don’t need an expensive plane and risking pilots lives to hit the same targets MT would’ve gone after.
There’s a lot of “this should only hit buildings” weapons in the game though.
Such as?
Well, Mavericks were designed to hit moving targets, and it was an anti tank as well as a close air support weapon to begin with. Which weapons are you even referring to? Kh-38 is the only outlier, and maybe Hammers but that’s a stretch.
Oh my god, I figured it out.
Storm shadow, the french / british cruise missile also has an IR camera, and yet its also used for static targets. Why is this? Its used in the popup manouvere for terminal guidance to ensure it hits the right target. If the target is obscured by smoke (very likely if the missile isn’t the first one on target) then the missile will revert back to its GPS / INS system.
That’s what gaijin have done. They’ve taken the IR camera on the MT which is probably used for the same purpose and made it into a general purpose IR seeker.
The camera is never intended to track tanks etc, its a terminal guidance camera for identifying the building its supposed to hit. It explains why a missile from the last decade has a IR camera which is very potato like.
Jesus wept
(it still doesn’t exist, this is my personal theory)
That sounds absolutely like something Gaijin would do
Yeah, because IT IS a mini and very fast cruise missile, the seeker is only there to track the right target it was intended to hit, specially in GPS denied area, and that’s why the seeker quality and sensitivity is awful to begin with, it doesn’t need a 3rd gen IIR seeker to see it is going to hit an electrical station. Which would just be a bright blob in the seeker FoV of the real Kh-38MT.
Well funny that you put it like that, because russia is recieving an actual self-propelled cruise missile in the form of Kh-59M next update, further increasing the gap between capabilities
Lol yeah, where is AGM-84 anyway? Oh no it’s too advanced guys ;(((( - Gaijin
Never mind the fact that AGM-84 is just a Maverick with extra range, and it’s just as slow.
The only real advantage is GNSS.
Not the point, it’s an additional weapon class that is Russia exclusive
Let’s add the storm shadow, but make its terminal guidance camera act like the kh-38MT one. Flawless plan plus the storm shadow actually exists. I’d go for a 200km IR missile.
This is a joke btw
Gaijin should’ve denied Kh-38MT on the basis that they don’t want to implement LOAL, they just took the Kh-29TE seeker, made it 3rd gen IR and gave it an insane lock range and bypassed their own rules by doing so.
See guys? It’s fair because they can see and lock the target before launching :)
Storm shadow and AGM-84 will be denied on that basis, they are “too advanced” and “we don’t want to give players LOAL” but did so when they made up Kh-38MT stats to bypass their own rules.
They denied the Israeli 200km GNSS only missile (which is a modified MLRS rocket btw) because it was ‘too long range’ recently, but oh well, a jet powered cruise missile with a guided TV seeker is perfectly fine.
According to gaijin, we don’t have long range missiles in the game xD
The proposed seeker in question by the way, so people can see what was intended

Plug those numbers into your tool of choice and you’ll see just how much it’s over performing right now.
Spoiler alert - it’s around 5km max which means it is not intended for tracking moving targets at range and is incapable of doing so.
The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced I’m right and it’s only intended purpose is a terminal guidance camera.
Agreed but only if we get Taurus with the same seeker functionality. I really want to shoot tanks playin on maginot line with my plane being on Fulda gap
For a Mach 2.2 at sea level missile, 1370 km/h at range sure seems to throw a spanner in the works
