In the telegram video of Su-30SM by Gaijin, the Su-30SM had NVD keybind at the bottom of the screen. That keybind is only found on planes with Night Vision for pilot which it doesn’t have, planes with IRST camera like Eurofighter and Rafale and planes with Targeting Pods. Very likely 30SM will get T-220
I mean, it could also be because of Su-30SM’s OLS-30, since at the least India seems to talk about how it on their MKI’s has ground attack/laser designation capabilities. I really hope its not the latter like you suggest since that’d just be plain silly…
I am fine with either of the solutions, I would like to be able to use KAB-250LG with Su-30SM

Not to look at a gift horse in its mouth but I wonder, what was the reasoning for devs to give the Su-30SM the T220 targeting pod and not something more grounded with more evidence like Damocles or SASPAN-E?
Was it because it could “potentially” be mounted with little modification? (Kinda like how certain aircraft ingame have weapons or hardware it never had in service but can potentially utilize) Or was it just an arbritrary decision by the devs?
If it’s there to stay though, I’m not complaining because I enjoy CAS a lot, but I’m curious as to what led to that decision.
They locked the report so it doesn’t even matter.
My suspicion is that technical possibility is the answer to why it received it.
I’m hoping the MiG-29SMT also gets it, BVV_d said they are considering it.
I more so did it to see the reasoning to why T/220 was chosen instead of something else, saying they provide evidence to counter my bug report.

Current SU-30SM has a SU-35 inside it. KH-38, GROM, T-220, R-77 in 2nd/11th hardpoint, all should be in SU-35 not SU-30SM
That’s basically what the Su-30SM2 is, which is what gaijin should honestly change it to.
that would mean we’d have Irbis and possibly access to R-37M

Not entirely, I’m sure its a case of “its technically possible” which they’ve been using for a few years now.
Keep in mind the Su-30SM is a upgraded variant of the Su-30MKI.
usually they need some proof, and in SU-30SM I can’t find any.
If I remember correctly, Su-30MKI has it’s own system to fit the foreign weapons in India.
and to be honest, “its technically possible” fits every modern plane with degital highway system. you can just upgrade your system, install some drive then you are able to use anything you want, as long as the loadout can be carried.
But I don’t think gaijin will admit this now
