Russian Targeting Pod/Laser Designator Thread

i mean i can get point lock with the T at 13km and at 30km with the TE so…

  • Keep threads content to Russian Aircraft only
  • Include export models (Su-30MKI, Su-27UBM2)

Fixed the poll, so for anyone who cares I’d like to hear your input.

I love my animated LTPS PLATAN 🤣

I heard that Su-34NVO got UKR-OE recon pod with M433 Raduga-VM thermal cam irl. Do you have any info about that?

I have not seen a single picture of one, only drawings i saw didn’t even explicitely show a camera so i don’t think there’s much hope for that, tho the UKR-RT has been seen

We have one picture/video of that (probably). We discussed it here: Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2) - #316 by csla1972

I’d like to see a thermal pod at a lower BR like Khod, etc. someday.

Khod will not come.

That’s too sad, because they already have a finished model

It’s still a possibility

I bet when the game starts to die out, they’ll just throw everything at it like crazy.

Not really, no.

Gaijin can just BS T/220 onto other airframes if need be, ignoring Su-35S and MiG-35.

Other than that not many things really even need TGPs.

They really could.
What’s the issue? They don’t know the resolution of the pod? at least that’s what I heard.

Obviously, this was the first generation. Before that, the same company had already made a thermal imager for the Mi-24 and Ka-50, as far as I remember.

There is no point of adding it now.

The main + about SAPSAN was giving it to the flankers who didn’t have a TGP available, but gaijin just gave them T/220, and have made it clear they don’t really want to give MiG-29SMT or Su-27SM TGPs.

Also like, Kh-38MTs > First gen TGP.

A first generation imager would be interesting and probably keep it at a decent battle rating

should be able to guide laser weapons through its IRST anyway

No?

Not as far as I’m aware.

NIIP archived page on the SUV-VEP mentions it using the 31E-MK IRST which is capable of providing laser designation
