Russian Tanks - Problem with the ERA

From what I can find online it seems to state that Duplet-2M is an improvement over Duplet in terms of protection.

The only good source is the testing videos and images they released. Unfortunately Gaijin takes primary documents only so thats why oplot got stuck with the duplet-2m values.

It’s not an improvement in KE protection.

Unfortunate. Such is the problem with modern tanks, lack of sources.

The videos and images of duplet were posted in the oplot thread. Relikt I don’t have but Gaijin took the 250 KE value from Russia so at least they got that right

Correct me if i’m wrong, but doesn’t Relikt do 200mm in game? Either on hull or turret I don’t remember.

Basically I think Gaijin should have at least gave the same KE protection of Relikt to Duplet. That way it won’t be unfair. How is duplet having half the KE protection value as Relikt. How does that make any sense?

nope 250, I found some sources on relikt having 250, but I need to go over them again and confirm they’re primary. But if Gaijin took those sources then most likely

Also why does Kontak-5 side era deflect APFSDS rods better than 3 stacks of Duplet? I can go on about how Gaijin nerfed non-russian ERA but there can be so much done to russian ERA to make it more realistic and fair.

Soviet ERA is modeled using NATO sources. So if you think NATO sources are wrong, then find Russian sources.

BMPT is already at a BR akin to it being an M4A3E2 Jumbo in relation to the 3.3 M4 Sherman.

There is no ERA being hit in this screenshot, and that screenshot is intentionally misleading hit hitting overlapping plates without ERA.

Citation needed.
Because Gaijin themselves say that they prefer domestic sources over foreign ones for equipment

I mean, it is already known that Russian ERA overperforms and they still deny the idea of modeling it realistically.

Tbh this and modeling edges of ERA to be weaker is prob not gonna happen because of balancing through selective realism.

But it would certainly let Gaijin let us know how they get their sources from to calculate those exact armor numbers, if we even get anti-era APFSDS then it wouldn’t matter because we’d eating Kontakt tanks for dinner.

Why can’t they just be transparent with us. If the sources aren’t confidential and open to the public why not show where they get numbers. If there are no sources at least explain the reasoning. I’m still frustrated about the LMUR getting the highest AoA in the game but there are no sources on it while NATO FnF missiles have sources but no fix yet.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha, good one. They can’t even add spikes’ proper capabilities because its too op. I wonder what Gaijin thinks of anti-era APFSDS. Hmmmm

Doesn’t stop it but drastically decreases its possibility of penetration, at least for two flyer plates.

I’ve yet to see proof that 54mm of protection flat is over-performing.

M829A2 already goes through T-90A’s UFP…

I think the issue is the calculations involved in realistically modeling ERA would likely cause the servers to meltdown, they already struggle with volumetric I can’t imagine them handling the variables in a realistic ERA simulation very well. Not that I’m against better modeling but I suspect it’s one of those thing that sounds like a good idea until it’s implemented, then it turns out to cause more problems than it solves
