Russian Tanks - Problem with the ERA

They need to model APFSDS shots not being affected by the edges of ERA. Just give a mm value of steel on the edges and not have the ERA go off when hit at the edges. Tanks like the T90M shouldn’t have a UFP completely impenetrable. ERA is only effective when it hits the main body of the ERA block.
And for god’s sake fix the olpot’s ERA. why does the Russian ERA get special treatment but not other nations?

Still the point stands. ERA should have very little effect at a flat angle against APFSDS. It’ll do some damage to the projectile but it’s not going to degrade it a ton.

For our current rounds, yes.

Another problem - in like 10.7 the ERA can tank APFSDS at that BR… ERA at that time was designed for chemical warheads, not kinetic. That’s the whole reason why NERA and APS were made. If ERA could absorb 650mm penetration APFSDS rounds, the West would 100% be using it. But why aren’t we if it can? (I’m talking about T90 ERA here at the end)

Precisely.

Dm53 for example should easily punch through the gaps of relikt and the frontal plate itself

False. Kontakt-5 was specifically designed for anti-kinetic.

Again, we shouldnt be able to pixel hunt for spots on tanks like we can…yet here we are…compromise here compromise there, nothing more

As someone else stated, DM53 would not be able to shoot through the gaps. APFSDS is simply not accurate enough.

More like selective realism. Adding fake values to duplet ERA but Relikt gets the best KE protection.

They pulled the numbers from the publicly available Duplet brochure.

Realistic Battles use a cannon bore sight. It is accurate in game to shoot the edges of ERA.

The gaps are incredibly miniscule. Its simply not a realistic idea to shoot through them.

Wrong duplet, most likely the smaller version of duplet called Duplet-M, which the thai oplot did not use.

name me an russian tank at 10.7 that uses that

You’re not shooting through the gaps, you’re shooting the edges.

Could you take a screenshot and mark where you are trying to shoot?

10.3 T-72B 1989
10.7 T-80UD
11.0 T-72B3E
11.0 T-90A
11.3 T-72B3
And no, none of these are undertiered for reference.

Im not contending that, I’m just saying that calling them 2020s vehicles when they have nothing in common with their real life 2020s versions is questionable

Gaijin is avoiding adding newer anti-ERA rounds because with the current ERA setup the pen values would have to be so incredibly high they would just lolpen everything. ERA needs a rework before you get stuff like M829A3.
