Russian t80ud

Is the t80ud still good? and is this thing not beginner friendly because of thermal lack?

For a battle rating 10.7 vehicle is pretty good, best option for USSR at this battle rating range. Lacking thermal imaging device doesn’t mean losing a arm, is a situational tool that is required in very few situations, situations which you’ll hardly put yourself in, unless you really want like sniping, maps in War Thunder and Gaijin themselves doesn’t praise static gameplay, so it’s not a downside the lack of thermal imaging device.

You’d need to worry about other things that aren’t really beginner friendly, thermals shouldn’t be that big of a deal.

Its obviously not without caveats but out of the big three 10.7 premium MBTs, its the one that works really well on urban and semiurban maps and less so on open maps.

Cant go wrong with it as long as you respect its limitations.

i love it. though for maps like fields of poland, you may find it irritating due to the lack of thermals, so sticking to plain / city maps will be ideal.

considerng the T-80B at that rank - its garbage now. But to take it to lineup? Eh. Its either you have this or T-72B 1989 which is practically the same. So its okay.

Youd rank T-80B over UD?

Id certainly would. Better overall mobility and thermals. More than that, id say the M1 Abrams is much more 10.7 material than 80UD :/

UD trades it for armor which can be more advantageous on certain maps where lack of thermals isnt a problem.

Considering the game is centered around lineups, id say its perfectly fine lol.

unrelated, how does your nickname translates?
I always read it as beeshburger, just noticed i was wrong all along and its some word, not a wordplay

Same can be said if we compare UD to TURMS-T. Its like it never did need that nerf to me.
Tho as it is there, ig its fine? B needed some lineup, as 292 isnt avaliable for most ppl

Its cheesburger written wrong.

Yes TURMS has tradeoffs even when compared to T-80B trading better thermals for worse armor and reload.

Except T-80UD UFP can still withstand most if not all 10.7 rounds with ease, with sole exception that tanks like Kpz70 dont have to face it in full uptier. That armor might as well been impervious to 9.3 while 3BM42 can fart in general direction of any 9.3 and one tap it.

ah got it

Good but with 80B its trading more than just armor and reload, when with 80UD its practically just armor

ah but now i compare UD with 2a4 and m1 and its a pile of sh… compared to them. Before it was a much farer comparison.

3bm22 can also do the same, but it cant that easilly pen 10.7, why 72A has it and sits 9.3
Same with 3BM42

TURMS has the 7 sec reload, UD does not.

I have both in my lineup and i spawn them for entirely different purposes.

lol. Lmao even. T-80UD has issues outside of urban settings but in those, id pick it over Abrams and 2A4 every time.

Not really.

Except 3BM22 can lolpen 2A4 UFP (or that portion above beak but bellow hull roof).

3BM42 cuts straight through.

2A4 can withstand it only on turret cheeks.

I would personally choose 2a4 over ud now because 2a4 is faster and has decent gun handling and reverse speed. Specifically sweden 2a4 because there is viggen with 4 saphe mavs at 10.7.

Armour is a passive advantage.
It relies on your opponents not knowing weakspots and having poor aim, it’s never reliable because it can always be ignored by someone with basic aim.

Mobility is an active advantage.
You can always actively utilize mobility to out-position opponents, to quickly reposition or to push flanks in minimal amount of time.

Not getting hit in the first place > Getting hit and hoping your armour works.

Generally speaking, inexperienced/poor players tend to rely heavily on passive advantages because they don’t know the maps/enemy routes yet, but that doesn’t mean it’s the better stat to have.

On UD it can be mitigated by playing aggresively as it is kinda hard to hit pitch perfect pixel spot on moving UD but I digress.

Out of the M1/2A4/UD trio while I perform the best with M1, my UD performs better than 2A4.

Yes mobility and gun handling is advantage, but advantage of good armor in urban setting cant be overlooked either

Urban settings is where they perform pretty poorly IMHO.

Weakspots are extremely easy to hit due to the very low engagement distances, hitting a weakspot on a target that’s moving 800 metres away is far more difficult than hitting one that’s moving 70 metres away.

Furthermore, their extremely wide stance also guarantees that the LFP will be vulnerable when they peek around corners, they’re easily tracked, they can’t back up properly when faced with multiple opponents around a corner and their reloads aren’t quick enough to engage multiple opponents in CQB.

They’ve also not got access to neutral steering and side scraping doesn’t work well given the wide carousel that spans the entire width of the interior.

Funnily enough id kill to have UD level of armor in my US or GER lineup lol.

Id lie if i said UD reverse speed never got me killed, but post-buff reload is perfectly fine for the shell it has.

Other issues I can work around, but I can understand its not for everyone (not throwing a shade, more like general statement that everyone finds fun in different playstyles)
