No that is not what im saying. Im saying that the russian MBTs with their artificially buffed damage models are worse than the artificially nerfed Nato tanks (with certain exceptions of course). Just tanks, no mention of overall linup strength.
For the whole lineup its absolutely a different question. The russian lineup was 100% the strongest for a good portion of 2025 and 26. We will see whether the US buffs were enough to dethrone it long term.
Well the problem is that when you say “russian MBTs are too strong” you open yourself up to just being shut down with the skill issue comment. Meanwhile if you argue with an objective point like “russian MBTs are profiting from more than questionable modeling choices” then that is a point completely independent of the skill level of the person making the argument.
well from my point of view… you essentially just admitted russian mbts are too strong… because they are… they are artificially buffed with “more than questionable modeling choices” as you said. Meaning they are stonger than they should be. IE… they are TOO strong.
And to that point, even if they were nerfed to be realistically damaged (how they should be)… with the rest of the lineup ALSO being as strong as they are (CAS, SPAA, HELIS, ETC, as you admitted to them being)… im pretty sure the rest of their lineup can pick up the slack. i mean the bmpt alone was dominating for nearly a year. And im aware thats changing with abrams volumetric changes, but this is the history i have to gleen from at this point. and it aint looking too fair tbh
but hey at least you admit this and that ill take. because to argue against this is crazy. I still think the point about specifically their MBTs is moot but yeah the lineup in totality is UNDOUBTEDLY OP.
Yes they are too strong compared to what they should be if the game was more realistic. But they are not too strong compared to the powerlevel of the other MBTs in the game.
Well thats the big question, innit? That was true for most of the recent past and well see if the US buffs are enough to alter the balance long term, the stats look very promising at least.
It got added in mid December tho?
Most people “admit” that. Except for absolute die hard russia players everyone agrees that the broken CAS+SPAA combo carried russian top tier for a long time. People just take issue with overhyping the powerlevel of russian MBTs.
People are already reporting OHKing BMPTs by shooting their missiles.
That said, even if ammo belts were fixed it’ll never go down to a BR where it’s weaponry will be anything more than anemic.
Light tank that relies on it’s armor is a very weird concept.
Which makes just as little sense as the current ammo belt implementation and is a pure dice roll.
I kinda doubt that. The initial 10.3 placement was for sure mainly because on the dev hitting the belt would actually destroy the BMPT making it vastly less survivable compared to the live version.
Sure but the current descriptions make very little sense in the context of modern vehicles anyway. A Puma is only 3 tons lighter than the T80BVM or take the Namer for example. And both of these also carry anti tank missiles and have Autocannons that are on paper more suited to fight MBTs but they arent classified as missile carrying TDs.
I can only imagine. Switching from CAS in the EFT or Gripen to the Rafale already feels like stress relieve therapy. The same with better missiles and without the danger of Pantsir SM SVs must feel like holiday in a 5 star resort.
Sort of. But even with harms they arent that hard to deal with imo. Let alone chinese/japanese kh31 with sustainers that keep them going at high speeds. Probably best addition of this update.
Because most modern light tanks we have in game are not recon vehicles? And the BMPTs weapons are not made to directly engage the enemies it faces in war thunder.
I highly doubt that a single belt change is worth 1.3 BR in it’s current state.
At this point making a new category named “support vehicle” or something would offer a much better insight of the vehicle’s performance. All lights and ATGMs of the modern era should be placed there.
But I guess Gaijin picks their description as they seem fit. (TAM)
Tank damage model is a standardized thing in War Thunder, vehicle production for War Thunder would be far too expensive otherwise.
If they’re broken for BMPT, they’re broken on everything, because War Thunder doesn’t have vehicle-specific things.
Overlapping plates? That impacts over 400 vehicles.
ERA? Over 50.
Good armor? Over 100.
All the weird things about BMPT are on dozens to hundreds of other tanks…
“Spall blocking plates” is over 100 MBTs in-game from all 10 tech trees… not Russian.
NATO has the same OP helis.
SPAA can’t be OP because they’re victims.
NATO has the same OP CAS.
The best IFVs aren’t in Soviets.
Praising Soviet vehicles is defending those vehicles.
Probably not 1.3 steps since 10.3 is insanely low but 11.0 with stuff like the VJTF and the Namer would be ok
Absolutely. The current differentiation of vehicles and the allocation of stuff like artillery, scouting and ammo boxes makes sense for WW2 stuff and to a degree Cold War vehicles like the pure missile tanks but for modern vehicles it’s just arbitrary at this point.
