Sim is a very different game mode, ground battles 9M is also far scarier.
It’s air RB where I play the most and the missile having the (diamond) smokeless motor that doesnt help.
No it isn’t nor it will ever.
Are you serious right now ?
9X… “inferior” lol In range only.
It’s hitting some crazy close range shots now, thats why I said diluted.
You can outrun them on the deck I have done it in a Typhoon, I have seen a Su-27 and F-15 do the same.
Front aspect a puff of flares will guarantee you dont die and preflaring while turning forces the missile to shut off its seeker and it cannot pull the G to recover.
Which is why it kinda sucks close range, which is fine if it had the extended lock on range.
I dont consider the 9M a bad missile, just it’s flexibility drops off compared to the R-73 and Magic 2
9X has an inferior seeker
Doesnt manouvre as well
Is more suceptible to countermeasures.
Finally remind me the last time Gaijin added a missile/weapon system that performed anywhere near it’s real world levels?
How about you do the same , that reply was 3 days old, old man. Stop coping
All AIM-7 varriants are overperforming compared ot IRL
Real ? Aren’t all Aim-7 variants , especially the 7M , are worse than real life ?
9M has like 3x the effective range, in a game with nametags and missile diamonds that’s a pretty important stat.
If you are letting a russian jet get within dogfight range of you and you aren’t pre flaring what exactly do you expect to happen? Because of nametags its not like they are sneaking up on you and slamming it into you, you should be seeing them coming miles away. And most NATO jets have an order of magnitude more CM, what are you saving them for?
Exactly as are 120s
You can outrun everything, nothing has infinite energy.
Just like everything else.
Missile has more than enough G to follow you through a turn. We aren’t talking about 9B here.
It’s the only one getting close to the IRL performance (68.2% hit rate, and a kill rate of 59.1% - data from the first Gulf war).

Rough uptier for the iraqis, I guess if real american pilots were anything like WT american pilots the mig 23’s might have stood a chance against strike eagles.
I already explained to you in the rafale thread that it won’t change anything for the ET because they are fired at ranges were you aren’t aware.
So you won’t preflare a 27et anyways
9m shouldn’t even be smokeless at all altitudes
and it also should be able to lock onto flares before launched
So the aim9m is currently over performing with its irccm
Ahh yes the best and most beloved topic in War thunder, of course we cannot go without it in 2025. I would suggest that you should research about stalinium material, it is present in every tank right up to t-90m. It is molded together with steel to provide extra 250mm of armor, it is highly effective against most shells. At higher br brackets it is extremely effective against rounds starting with the letters DM and numbers 829 etc.
Not to mention the dark Sith (Snailnaidis) and the power of the dark side constantly lurking in the shadows as tanks and planes dominate the battlefield.
The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some might consider to be unnatural.
AIM-120, AIM-9M, R-73, AAM-3 [with the information available at the time of introduction in-game], AIM-7F, 530D, the list goes on…
The 9X has a seeker that is vastly superior to all current seekers in-game as well as later found data on AAM-3’s seeker.
9X’s maneuverability is beyond meta.
I see young apprentice, the power of the dark side is having a positive effect on you. Have you made the right choice in selecting your main faction?
Nothing is truly smokeless and it is described by the USA “as a low smoke motor” Depending on altittudes and conditions missiles launched on a wet day will create some form of trail.
Im happy with Gaijin adding smoke at various altitudes and conditions.
Clearly has some flare rejection as it is an IRCCM missile.
Notice how I’m not saying Magic 2 or R-73 should be changed…I’m stating 9M is underperforming.
