It’s unfair yes but calling it evidence of Russian bias is groundless.
not really, when there is a clear difference in the standards to get loadouts accepted for russian vs other nations aircraft (eg. KH-38MT, and extra pylons on SU-30 and 27SMT)
Well AH-64A should have gen 1 thermals and no ATAS but it have stingers and gen 2 thermals so it’s not only applied to Russian tech tree.
This thing was pile of thrash at that moment AL-21 and completley wrong flight model i think it could be beaten by F-4 loaded with bombs in dogfight.
I’ve noticed that every time I’ve seen a Russian helicopter with Lmur, they’ve always had that giant radar-looking pod on a separate pylon. Is that part of the system? If so, would that mean the Mi-28nm can only carry a max of six?
that is a game convention applied to all helicopters
they were fitted to some AH-64A in US service
its possible they need a datalink pod to use LMUR
They need the pot for MITL
So for now it is irrelevant for war thunder
do we know if that is the case? is there any proof of them firing without datalink pod?
pictures screenshoted out of a video, it is attached in the spoiler
left side of the heli:
2x LMUR
1x S-8 rockets
right side of the heli:
1x fuel tank
1x S-13 rockets
and here another image of it from a bit later in the video, where you can see the S-13s clearer (~1:38):

funnily the missile edited into the thumbnail is what i think to be a Kh-25
Like I said upthread. You only see images of them running around with two LMURs at any one time - mounted on one side. The fuel tank being used on the opposite side inner pylon, typically.
Given the rather lethal environment they are in (helicopters in general having been subject to considerable losses) - it makes no sense that they’d only carry two if they could half the sortie rate and carry more.
Sorry RU peeps, unless you can find another dodgy, ahem, toyally accurate and not misleading brochure it looks like you are limited to 2x.
=)
why would they carry more than they need to accomplish a mission?
for example every flanker could go out with 10 missiles into a mission and yet they dont because it is unnecessary
you also dont see F-15s flying around with 8 missiles
Alas, we only have visual proof for 2x.
Like the Su-27 with twin pylons… oh wait.
Erm… do a google and you’ll see LOTs of F-15s with 8 missiles.
That’s not how pylons work, Crazed.
Your incorrect standards would nerf Mirage 2000, later Typhoons, AV-8B+, AH-64E, etc.
Su-27, you wouldnt say Eagle 15 either wouldnt you?
but do you you know what there is the Su-27SM3 which gaijin couldnt be bothered to properly model
which made the current Su-27SM into another franken plane with the radar, engines and missile load of the Su-27SM3 but not the correct 3D model
count the pylons
Its hard to know.
Fuel tanks suggest forward bases far behind the LOC.
Could that be a reason to send 3 helis with 2 LMURs each?
Or send 1/2 helis with 4 less exposure to fire
Or send 1 with 8…
When you start to break it down anymore than 4 seems like a Gaijin balancing decision.
Precisely my point. It’s not like the VKS have the spare airframes to make large formations carrying only 2x missiles apiece a good idea.
helis probably dont have the highest survival expectancy so it could be a case of sending more ppl to overwhelm the enemy, i wouldnt put that past russia
They may be willing to risk the people, but those Mi-28s aren’t being replaced easily any time soon. They don’t even show more than 2x at arms displays.
why would anyone need to show the same helicopter twice on arms display
like, you see it once and thats good enough
i can understand a spare one as a replacment, when they are supposed to fly around but thats about it
