Robots of War

We got the tinnies on the run - Ahsoka Tano Star Wars the Clone Wars

Since the moment warfare began to value distance and survivability, militaries started looking for ways to put machines in harm’s way instead of people. Early forms were crude remote-detonated charges, wire guided vehicles, and radio-controlled bombs but the idea was always the same: extend the reach of infantry without exposing soldiers directly. As radios, cameras, and sensors improved, remote-controlled and robotic systems moved from experimental curiosities to real battlefield tools.

By the late 20th and early 21st centuries, military robots became a standard part of modern forces. EOD robots like the PackBot and TALON were designed to deal with explosives safely, while armed ground robots experimented with mounting machine guns, grenade launchers, or anti-tank weapons. Some systems focused on reconnaissance small tracked or wheeled scouts with cameras and sensors while others acted as remote weapon platforms, sentry units, or logistics mules carrying ammo and supplies. Different countries approached this differently, balancing autonomy, remote control, and rules of engagement based on doctrine and technology.

For Warthunder Infantry, military robots and remote-controlled systems could add a whole new layer of gameplay and discussion. Recon drones, armed ground vehicles, disposable robotic scouts, or even experimental and improvised systems could change how infantry clears areas, defends positions, or counters armor. This thread is here to collect ideas historical examples, prototypes, documents, balance concepts, or wild-but-plausible implementations. If it’s remotely controlled, semi-autonomous, or designed to keep soldiers out of danger, post it here and help shape future robot and infantry support suggestions.

Remember leave a comment and a like. Lets start a conversation on what and how this could be implemented.

MG turret can be avoided from what I am reading there are 4 basic configurations (RPG/ATGM, Machine Gun, Grenade Launcher, sniper rifle/battle rifle) They use radio control in 90% of cases so you can stop the user, EW, or force them away from the turret. Some areas are not friendly to radio control aka underground. These turrets are not indestructible so a tank can easily stop it.

Mobile versions are basically tanks but small and not as good same principles unless fiberoptics are used then they cant be jammed.

Robot dogs may be fun China keeps pumping out little robot things.

kamikaze robot are just an RC car with a mine or like a Goliath tracked mine (already in game)
