Revision, review and study of the merkava mk4 and mk3

Suggestion: Re-evaluate the BR placement of the Merkava Mk.3 and Mk.4 series

I would like to start by saying that this is not intended as a “buff Israel” post. My goal is to discuss the current BR placement and progression of the Merkava series in a constructive way.

Merkava Mk.3

At the moment, I feel the Merkava Mk.3 series sits in a difficult position. When compared to the Sabra Mk.1, the Mk.3 does not appear to have enough advantages to justify its significantly higher Battle Rating.

The Sabra offers very competitive firepower, modern fire control systems and excellent ammunition, while the Merkava Mk.3 does not gain a substantial increase in protection or overall combat effectiveness that clearly explains the BR difference.

I believe the Mk.3 deserves to be re-evaluated, either through a BR adjustment or by reviewing its overall performance compared to vehicles at the same rating.

Merkava Mk.4

My second point concerns the Merkava Mk.4.

I believe placing the Mk.4 at 11.7 would create a more logical progression within the Israeli ground tree, leaving the Mk.4M as the true top-tier vehicle.

Vehicles such as the Type 90, Leopard 2 variants and early M1 Abrams already occupy similar BR ranges while offering different strengths and weaknesses.

If Gaijin considers the available public information on the Merkava’s armour insufficient for increasing its protection, then balancing it through BR placement could be a reasonable alternative.

This would also improve the progression of the Israeli tree, avoiding multiple vehicles that feel extremely similar being placed at the same top-tier level.

Final thoughts

I am not asking for unrealistic armour values or undocumented performance.

I simply believe the Merkava Mk.3 and Mk.4 deserve another look regarding their BR placement and overall balance, especially considering their current in-game performance and progression within the Israeli tech tree.

I would be interested to hear other players’ opinions and discuss this respectfully.
