Revert heli mechanic

Yeaaa…no. The fact that I was able to do this without much serious damage taken is hilarious. Now it’s a bit more challenging to do so as it should be. Was before the new mechanic and was within range of all Mg this whole time.

Well, a lot of people define realism differently in this game soooo sure. It is a game afterall and right now this new mechanic at least gives tankers a fighting chance to damage Helis avionics just like they damage our FCS.

I have taken an APFDS hit with my Scout AH mk1 that killed my CPG but let me get back to the house and rearm. And atleast once I’ve hit a Aloutte or similar right to the cockpit and watched it fly away.

May not happen frequently, but it’s not really an argument that the helicopter damage model wasn’t pretty terribly done.

Or hell how many times have we seen an SU-25 or KA lose a whole wing or tail and continue to fly and shoot for quite some time despite being “dead”

Every Heli (I really hate that word… it’s “helo”) I’ve hit with APFSDS has continued to fly in good condition and has only ever resulted in an assist.

Helicopters being hit by tank main cannon rounds and only damage being having a black fuselage is a common issue before the nerf to helicopter damage model. But the majority of hits of APFSDS, in my experience, are fatal for helicopters. Of course, it is recorded and viewed on social media when a helicopter survived multiple rounds in a row, but in actual experience, it is rarer.
However, the greatest threat to most helicopters is either missiles (which are common against helicopters at range) or fast-firing pintle mount (roof mounted) machine gun (common against rocket rushers). Even one of these bullets can knock the pilot out, and one missile one-shots a heli in the vast majority of hits. Compared to these counters, being hit by a tank’s main caliber is relatively rare, and should not be cause for such a dramatic change as we have here.

The outrage surrounding helicopter damage models is mostly specific to Ka-50/Ka-52. This should have necessitated a change to those specifically, and we have seen Gaijin’s practice of fully modeling vehicles that are commonly complained about. Examples: how 2S38 was one of the first to receive extra modeling of components, and how the Ka-52 is one of the few helicopters that received a model instead of this half-baked RNG fuselage.

Due to this, the correct response by Gaijin should have been to simply introduce extra modules only to the helicopters that had extremely over performing damage models, such as Ka-52. Gaijin should NOT have made this shitty change that makes a few MG bullets disable the entire weapons system of the helicopter

Let’s raise a metaphor related to ground vehicles. We all know how Gaijin has added full modeling to most top tier tanks. Now, imagine if along with this change, Gaijin also added, to tanks that were not modelled, a chance for any penetrating hit to the hull of the tank to disable the firing of the main gun or all sights in the tank. It would obviously be a terrible change!

But since we have a very loud minority, the biased anti-CAS players, and a less vocal minority, those who play helicopters regularly: this change is accepted without significant uproar.

I don’t think the guys who are upset with the balance of ground vs cas are a minority.

The ones who want a TO version may be. But there seem to be a good number of people calling for more/better balancing.

I dont see your 120mm cannon being disabled by a single 12.7 or 7.62mm bullet, but okay.

Gaijn went too far in the nerf, and I think proper modelling + a mid range between what we have now and what we had then is necessary.

7.62s/12.7s should not be instakilling helis, but they also shouldnt be able to take APFSDS to the face.

no, sorry, that would be you. if you somehow manage to get spawncamped by helis, then that’s your problem.

heli used to be able to take 152mm apfs straight to their face before

how is it your fault that you try to spawn in a losing match and getting spawncamped not only by tanks but also cas is the one getting spawncamped faults? now i am convinced that you have comprehension and literacy problems

oh so helis, as you said were never the problem. If you’re getting spawncamped by helis then you’re getting spawncamped by tanks, you just for some reason only choose to complain about helis

because unlike heli, tanks can be countered very easily with almost any vehicle that you brought some aa can even kill tanks. but unlike tanks heli cant be countered with all vehicle currently there is only 2 non spaa that can kill heli easily and one of those are premium vehicle

secondly i’ve checked your player card and your track records for heli isnt that good so that also confuse me. you are not even that good in heli why are you very adamant on gate keeping the nerf for being bad albeit so far it is only bad if you play heli pve actively and as someone who plays heli pve daily i know how low the player count is.

so what gives?

p.s: forgot to mention only spaa without ir guidance sam can lock on heli so that makes 17 spaa without ir sam leaving only japan and israel without ir guidance choice and they all sits at br 10.3+ leaving 10.0-9.0 vulnerable to heli with agm that exceed 6 km range (ir sam needs range less than 3km to lock some cant even lock until 1km)

you can just LRF a heli and send a sabot or HEATFS his way far easier than you can kill a spawncamper behind cover. you just don’t wanna learn to counter CAS

you telling people to counter heli 6km away with laser range finder but your track records on air killing with ground units is also not that impressive

keep it civilized man. no need for this kind of offenses here.
