If I recall reason it was probably removed was the fact that there wasn’t enough time for folks to get it since some folks are more busy, if anything per 1 1/2 months would be more reasonable compared to the Weekly Decals they used to do for a bit which was worse.

Honestly they could use the Pages of History. Make a common reward for each stage an authentic decal or camo that is tied to the timeframe.
For example: WW2 Era would give authentic decals or camo from whatever nation the person was from, that was used during that time.
So a German general of the army could give the 3 different emblems used by the 10th Panzer Div during WW2 or if they served in the Luftwaffe, it would give the emblem of Kampfgeschwader 55 or Jagdgeschwader 53.

They should make the old ones available through an achievement or something in game. At least visible to people so that they can decide if they want to work towards getting it. Maybe kills with a certain vehicle? Literally anything would be nice

I personally feel Historical Decals and Markings are very key to both personalizing your vehicles. I’ve played War Thunder on and off since at least 2018, but have had this account since 2021 when I lost my old one when switching to next gen console. One thing I really miss besides the F2G is all the really cool decals I collected over time. I’d really really love to see more chances to earn both historical camouflages and decals implemented into the game again, the return of the D.A.K. decal is on my wishlist along with some more Numerical decals as console players don’t have access to the standard ones anymore. I remember at one time earning decals through the Pages of History events, would love to see more of that as well as other small events like we see for holiday decals, nothing crazy. A good example is for the anniversary of the battle of El Alamein if you play 3 battles with German tanks you earn the D.A.K. decal. It would make so many players happy to have these!

They removed the number decals for new players at least a year ago for all new players players that registered before that still have access to them though
