Voice communication is an important part of games. For competitive games, voice communication is their characteristic, which plays a role in improving communication efficiency and enhancing social functions.
I heard that War Thunder seems to have stopped the voice communication function several years ago. I wonder if the reasons for shutting down this system in the game have disappeared now, and whether it is still possible to restore and improve the voice system.
In - team communication is very important for the gameplay of War Thunder. This game uses historical reality as its selling point, but large - scale battles require cooperation. Is it really worthy of being called a real - war simulation if it only restores the vehicles but not the combat methods? Furthemore, there are more modern vehicles in War Thunder, and the amount of information on the battlefield also increasing but players cannot communicate in a more efficient way.
The current situation of War Thunder has told us that this situation cannot be delayed any longer. Now, some players deliberately interfere with their teammates. In ground battles, only fly planes without capturing points. Multiple players lock on the same target, resulting in a waste of ammunition. When a player is assassinated, they cannot alert their teammates… All these indicate that the developers should put this function on the top of their agenda, or provide more communication methods . I don’t want to play a so - called realistic war game where everyone acts independently.

I dont recall regular matches ever having voice chat. They did have squadron voice chat and i thought that was still a thing.
I dont blame them for not having voice chat though.

Funny how Call of Duty had this for two decades, but War Thunder can’t figure that out
Its a “they dont want to” rather than a “they cant”

Two decades of 12-year-olds screaming in your ear, what joy.

Use Discord or Teamspeak, no need to add a voice chat to the game…

For real.
Cas players would probably be like a “get called every slur” speed run.

There is only squad VC. But there was never a team VC.
And the reason Gaijin doesn’t want to implement it is because you cant report what someone says over voice and matches would just be people calling each other “fellow african americans” and british cigarettes. Which I personally wouldn’t mind. It would be like 2009 cod all over again.

At least I could call them some choice words and we’d all have a good time. Now we get banned for 30 days for calling someone a pansy for hiding on an airfield.
“Oh no, you hurt my feelings because you called me a noob! Reported!”

The downside of being a kids game is a stricter chat.
Then again, even rated M games are following that trend.
It’s funny, because it’s the foul mouth ones that are kids. I’ll call someone a twat, they’ll drop the hard r five times and threaten to bang me mum
The good ole days of CoD. Fun times, but to be fair kids definitely brought what they learnt in the chat rooms to real life events that did not end well for them 😅
I do wish the whole world were less sensitive though and just saw the humor in more things. But I’m afraid we can’t change the world
Lol. I didn’t got banned, but complained about air spawn bombers in game.
The next day I am reported 10+ times. Passive, TK, hate speech, etc etc.
(Haven’t got a TK in the week)
Needless to say, I didn’t get banned.
For the love of God, no, no, and again no. There are third-party products that can be used to communicate between teams and friends. The in-game text chat is already misused, imagine 16 kids shouting and trolling all the time…
Can wait to see your teammates scream gamer words 💀

While I am all for better communication -
I don’t want voice chat. I’d just mute it and then people would learn to rely on it in ASB and I’d no longer be able to communicate as well as I can currently with T41/T42 and “Leading for landing + Repairing/Reloading” and “Attention to gridsquare.” I am allergic to voice chat. Nobody who plays WT will hear my voice (unless i can finally convince a favourite human to play, since they already heard and seen me), and I’m not interested in hearing peoples’ voices unless they’ve been pre-vetted and pre-filtered with access to trust-worthy moderation if needed.
Especially if I’m playing german WW2 planes. I’ve seen enough usernames to know it’s going to suck.
However, better comms would be great.
Replacing the current “T-4-1” “Follow me!” with actual “Position Report:” would stop cute noobs seeing me hit “Follow me!” flying at them asking for IFF (for them to T41 in turn) and then start following me around like a lost puppy.
I’d also like a “Identity requested!” replacement for “Attention to gridsquare”. A lot of people coming from RB still seem to treat attention to gridsquare as “THIS IS MY BASE!” and get confused at me pinging their japanese b17 in my bf109 trying to decide if it’s friendly or hostile.
Considering War Thunder has a almost non-existent in-game moderation regarding players interaction would be a cursing and swear words paradise.
