That’s what I originally said. Adding the T-72 and T-80 autoloder didn’t increase the amount of shrapnel absorbed one bit, since there were already armor parts of the same shape.
It was purely nerf since the module can now be destroyed.
For type 90 and leclerc it’s a different situation - previously they had no armor around the shells (I mean already inside the turret). Now they are surrounded by autoloader module, which protects them from splinters
No, that was the case with Kontact 1 only, as armor requirements changed so did era… it became stronger and adapted to help defend against kinetic projectiles.
Why do you think certain ammo types were made to defeat ERA?
Why is it that the 292 even tho the ammo in the carousel can’t be detonated IRL be detonated IRL? The dart portion of it doesn’t contain the gun powder
Why is it that Russian vehicles have over a 50% of detonating the fuel even when that vehicles uses diesel and NATO tanks don’t have this issue?
let’s just review the logic here
smart player hits ammo rack on a T-series → it turns yellow → totally fine
new player hits center mass on an abrams → nothing happens → unacceptable!!
lmao. lol, even.
Because that is the ACTUAL function of the Basket, to protect the crew during rotation, from mechanical injuries. And even if it was an open basket, do you actually think a mechanism (turret drive) strong enough to rotate a turret weighing in at 21 Metric ton (leo2A5 iirc) would jam?
same thing was with CR, only darts in the turret and still ammo detonation, getting blown sky high when TOW launcher was hit while being empty but reloading, Gepard launching turret in near earth orbit while only having less then 40 round left.
this is a coding oversight, like so many in this game. And for me the OP 292 has nothing to cry about, since it has the most POWERFULL round in the game coupled with a OHK HE frag round, it’s only drawback is a slower reload.
Really ?
From my time playing I haven’t noticed them exploding less frequently. I think it more comes down to the visual confirmation that you damaged the module, making you think ammo was hit.
That’s insanity. Gaijin talks about not penalizing players for making a good shot but ignores the fact that it’s not uncommon in War Thunder for T-90s and T-80s to eat a shot to the side with APFSDS and take zero damage because of ERA?! Are you kidding me?
Same with some planes—they can take a SAM to the face and just keep flying like nothing happened…
Next time, before nerfing Western MBTs—especially US ones—even more, maybe fix the broken stuff first instead of adding random features nobody asked for.
And since people keep bringing up “realism”—War Thunder ain’t realistic. If it was, the game wouldn’t even be fun. So using realism as an argument for a game like this is just dumb. Also, if it was realistic, you could still turn turrets without hydraulics or electrics—just way slower. Most tanks have a manual crank for that. Sure, it wouldn’t be great in combat, but it’s still better than sitting there like a free kill.
Its somethow not possible to not get your turret jammed when getting hit. One spall fragment hitting the basket is already enough to make you turret jammed. A huge nerf for all tanks which got this nonsense… How can they make the huge basket a turret horizontal drive? What once happened when someone hit the turret ring, now happens with every shot, doesn’t matter how bad you aim. Also the basket offers zero protection, fragments pass it and hit the crew.
I still don’t undertstand where all the spalling came from on the Leopard 2. the shell go trough the spall liners and than create some more spalling.
At this point the amount of spalling the Leopard 2HU get on a side shot is the same as for my Ariete that do not have spall liners
What a horrible change for Abrams. It had problems with it’s model and turret ring for many years. And now it just got worse. Top tier is just a repair simulator now.
Since the ring and floor are both regarded as turret, can it get double hp so it is not that easy to be broken? Now this change only benefits bad aimers, and makes a5 a6 or even a4 so vulnerable (even though their armour is not as good as a7s). And trunnion addition is not so satisfying, because it merely doubles the weakness area and thus the front can be much easily penetrated. I would like to see a balanced game that rewards good players, not nerf some vehicles by adding non-sense internal structures.
