Here’s a better idea Gaijin, we remove all the Commonwealth vehicles and make them a separate tech-tree. Britain has so many vehicles that my tree still isn’t complete. Most of us Australian’s and Canadian’s just want all our equipment in the same place anyway. Commonwealth tree fixes that instantly.
Constantly cramming other nations into the British tree is simply removing space away from domestic options.
Edit: Just saw the Conway is now a medium tank. While I dislike that, I can understand it. Doctrinally at least, it is a tank. Very much in the same way the Charioteer is considered a tank and not a tank destroyer. The Conway is called “Tank, Heavy Gun, 120mm, Conway” whereas something like the FV4005 is called “Heavy Anti-Tank, SP, No 1.”
I just wish Gaijin were more consistent. Why is the Avenger a medium tank? It’s an SP version of the A30, which means it’s a tank destroyer. Why is the Caernarvon a heavy tank? It’s classified and used as a medium tank. Why are the Valentine’s medium tanks when they’re infantry tanks? The closest equivalent would be a heavy tank, and that’s exactly what every other infantry tank is in WT.
Id prefer british stuff, canadian and australian second.
Indian equipment is mostly at the bottom of the list of what i want to see, other than their harrier, providing they make the harriers accurate and not suck
I don’t think using each nations individual designations to determine the class of a vehicle in-game would be a good idea
A lot of vehicles that currently are considered as light or medium tanks would end up becoming TDs and especially Britains tree would lose a lot of light and medium tanks a lower BRs
Stuff like the Stryker, Booker and Type 16 would become TDs, as they are classified as Assault Guns IRL
The Crusader tanks would become mediums and as you mentioned, the Valentines would become heavies and the Avenger a TD
Thanks to the spawncost system this would be a nightmare for many nations and losing light tanks would hurt a lot
The current class system isn’t perfect, but “historical” classifications would be even worse
They’re already hitting that point now in the British tree. Where’s any British light tank/armoured car between 3.3 to 7.3? That space has been taken up by South African vehicles.
@Stona_WT I’m sure you’re watching but I’ll upgrade this to a ping; the feedback to this change seems to be very negative, in particular regarding the Conway move and change of vehicle class.
Will the alternatives discussed in this thread be considered? Conway is definitely either a TD or a Heavy, and the response to retaining it in the TD line has been positive.
It’s possible there’s an error, but I doubt it. Why would Conqueror be called Heavy No 1, if Conway was classified as a heavy before it? Conway was an interim tank in order to get the 120mm into service faster, much like how the Caernarvon was an interim tank to get that hull into service faster.
Charioteer has a similar classification. FV4101 - Tank, Medium Gun, Charioteer.
Caernarvon as well. FV221 - Tank, Medium Gun, Caernarvon.
So the British didn’t consider the Conway as a heavy tank, just a tank with a heavy gun. They also didn’t consider it an SP, which would imply a tank destroyer.
The ammo box allows the Conway to replenish its first stage to keep the rate of fire up
Without the ammo box you end up at ~21 seconds per shot after the first stage is depleted (with an ace crew), with the ammo box you can keep the 15 second reload time up for a lot longer than just 5 shots
