Description: The RF-84F was the light fighter/reconaissance version of the F84F. It’s history started back during the Korea War when the US Air Force requested a new aircraft with high speed for reconnaissance and spot enemy targets and could also fire back if attacked. The first prototype was the second YF-84F prototype that was modified to satisfy the requested characteristics. Compared to the normal F84F, this one had air intakes on the wings and a pointed nozzle that allowed the installation of six cameras. In the weapons department, the aircraft was fitted with a 4x12.7 mm machinegun near the air intakes. The aircraft also got improved avionics, but aside from those modifications, all remained identical to the F84F. The USA ordered a total of 388 aircraft and provided them to all NATO users of the F84F. The Italian Air Force operated 78 units from 1956 to 1974. It equpped the 3rd Stormo, and it was the main dedicated reconnaissance aircraft of the Italian Air Force for nearly two decades. Some units were conserved as gate guardians, while another one was fully restored and exposed in the Museum of Vigna di Valle, where it is possible to see it today.

Why it should be in the game: it will offer another capable aircraft to the Italian post war aircraft that right now is lacking in number.

As a fighter it could work, if it is assigned a BR no higher than 7.0/7.3, otherwise without any external load it would be a bit useless.

But only at 7.0 as a fighter
And only as a premium or event vehicle
The tech tree has a lot more better options

Guns are positioned outboard and slightly lower than the intake and can be seen in the cutaway.

FYI It’s Italian text but a clearer pic than any English language version I could dig out.

It would be a nice feature if we had a mechanic similar to binoculars in light tanks, where we could spot enemy ground units using reconnaissance aircraft.

its not a combat aircraft, but if they add some weapon to it, ok

A +1 from me! I saw one earlier this year at the Museo Storico dell’Aeronautica Millitare; it would be a neat addition to the Italian TT!
