Since the new update is coming and I have some free time away from the military, I was wondering to myself “Shouldn’t the Ammram’s modifications get replaced?” And here’s what I wanna do:
Since the majority of the player base uses the 120B, and next update the 120D is just gonna smash the competition (and SINCE THE DERBY got a buff for long ranges.) why not replace the third modification of the 120B and replace it with a Nation-Unique missiles like the Derby, while still giving it the 120D as the forth modification (which it uses IRL)? Nobody is going to use the 120B and C after the D comes, so it would be better if we let players vhoose which missile they want to carry. Whether it is a nation-only missile that has 40G, or a slightly better 120D.
Let me know your opinion. Also gaijin, please fix 🙏
AIM-120D is going to be the worst AMRAAM in the game.
AIM-120A/B will remain the most widely used AMRAAM variant in the game.
AIM-120C-5 will remain in use as the sidegrade AMRAAM variant due to slightly better BVR performance than A/B variants.
Firstly, as said above it never tested the Derby, it sadly cannot get it.
Second, gaijin seems to think the Aim-120D is this magic missile this can’t go lower than 14.3, so unless you want what they did with the Aim-120C where it goes to a higher BR than it should bc ‘muh missile so op bro’, let’s not do that.
It being 14.0 bc of the C-5 is bad enough, I’d rather not put it at 14.3, thanks.
F-16 Sufa should get the aim120d and remain at 14.0 or be lowered to 13.7.
Israel is the most lacking tree for top tier without any options above 14.0, something like a F-16/F-15 aesa jet should be added as an option at 14.3-14.7.
The longer battery is irrelevant of course, but GNSS seems to make the AIM-120D/PL-12A a bit harder to evade in the typical notch + pitch up/down maneuver to get out of inertial path.
The GNSS upgrade by itself arguably makes the AIM-120D the best 120 variant right now because its just more reliable against targets that actively defend.
Adding this missile to jets like the F-16 sufa at 14.0 would help justify being placed at that BR. Its essencially an F-16C placed at 14.0 because it was cursed by having AIM-120C in its loadout. Just 6 missiles paired with a subpar radar at 14.0 is dumb
yeah its slightly harder to notch but it doesnt matter as everyone at toptier for most part have been dealing with micas making it irrelevant as everyones a pro at notching
Are you saying that micas having a better seeker is irrelevant and by consequence GNSS system is also irrelevant? What kind of nonsense is this?
That’s like saying having IR missiles don’t matter and should have no bearing on BR because they can be flared and everyone knows that. Ofcourse weapon performance is relevant even if it’s not 100% fool proof.
Also, GNSS improvement works differently from how the MICA behaves.
MICA’s better notch resistance results from it being more sensitive to imperfect notches and when the seeker is at very short distance from the target, it won’t even see chaff emitted by it. I’m not 100% sure but I think that’s more or less how it works.
I am suggesting adding the AIM-120D and keeping it at 14.0, since it doesn’t have AESA radar and is limited to 6 missiles, it would not warrant a BR increase.
