You understand the “actual panther 2” your talking about is the Panther “F,” it’s actual name being Panther Schmällturm, which was only the turret, found after an air-raid at a German tank development facility, and was barely in one piece due to the raid.

It’s planned to be replaced at some time however, there are no actual replacements for all 3 that can properly furfil all the roles that the R2Y2’s furfil. As Al said way earlier tried to claim the Kawasaki P.1 was a replacement however that 4 engine plane does not have the means to be effective in any of its roles since its payload is very limited due to it being a Maritime patrol vessel.

Ok, and the Turret is a Panther G turret. Your point still doesn’t work. All i need to do is aim either to the left or the right side of that turret and Panther II dies, even in a hull down position that turret has some major weakpoints.

The Aircraft has to be able to carry a relatively reasonable payload that can supersede the R2Y2’s roles, but also be flexible enough to defend itself from hostile aircraft and Japan has no proper replacements for that. Cause the JASDF has no aircraft armed with defensive armaments that are not fighters. They also cannot rely on the IJAAF or IJNAS as it would be replacing one design with one that probably wasn’t built.
Which would never work in actual combat, because you have a 90% chance of busting your transmission, and a 87% chance of catching fire to your engine.

Ok, you survive that 1 round, the new round is loaded next stop is either your turret or the commander cupola. Now you can no longer rotate the turret, 2nd or 3rd round->Straight through your face cheeks or even the side of the turret.
