For ground battles it is a good addition, they make it somewhat more difficult to fly so it somewhat discourage players to spam CAS/CAP which ruins the gameplay for ground vehicles. For air battles? You can have your clear sky bro (lol)

I like clouds. They need to overhaul how IRST (and probably tpods/IR seeker AGMs as well) interacts with clouds, but other than that, clouds add a level dynamism that you wouldnt get otherwise. Totally clear skies every match would just be boring (and frustrating with the super-contrails we have currently)

I even want them to add new weather effects and make time of day / weather effects variations more common. It is difficult to make air maps feel truly different purely via terrain alone, so weather adds a lot. It can also turn 1 map into many.

cloud not the problem,the problem is cloud is too much,even desert,and too cloud are too huge.

I just go below the clouds, easier to aim anyway.

My biggest problem with the clouds is that it seems they aren’t the same for everyone.

I’m maneuvering through cloud cover, unable to get any kind of IRST lock, or IR locks, only to see in the very same cloud I am going through, a missile launch behind me, at me with an IR missile, like the same clouds blocking my locks aren’t even there for others.

I don’t know if it’s my imagination in this regard, but it sure feels like just because I see clouds on my screen, doesn’t mean the enemy player sees the same clouds.

The entire map looks like it’s covered in this 1.5km thick zero interruption cloud cover.

Coincidentally, the enemy team seems composed purely of ju288s.

I wonder if there’s a reason for that…

I have flown ~40 kilometres since the initial screenshots and the map didnt change. continous cloud coverage, perfect for zomber gameplay

Update:

I flew across the whole map.

Cloud cover remains unbreakable:


You can legit take off, climb to like 1km altitude, navigate using map while maintaining level flight, descend to 0.8 km, drop bombs and climb back up to rtb and rearm and repeat.

There’s no counterplay other than strafing them on take-off or sitting near the mini base/airfield they’re dropping bombs on.

Just another reason for rewards to be nerfed.

And even early radar is likely useless if my F3H-2 experience so far is any indication thanks to ground clutter at 1km altitude.

Addendum:

Bombers can use the “gunner view” hotkey spam to autoaim at fighters while sitting in the cloud.

I kinda like these clouds honestly. Yeah, when you get it too much its bloody annoying, I completely agree with that

Wait till you play enough to learn they are client side and that half the time, people can see you in them.
Worst cloud implementation in a game I’ve seen. yeah they can be pretty, but they aren’t what other people are seeing.
