Remove PL-12 from Chinese Su-30MKK

automatically tracking the target doesn’t mean you can freely scan in between 2 zones.

I’ve already explained to you how it works. If you didn’t understand, read it again.

There’s a reason why they introduced this only for the TWS mode.

You’ll be happy to provide the source then that expressly allows for this function in a graduated manner purely in TWS mode without pilot input?

He already did it months from now.

Your late

Then he won’t have an issue posting it here will he?

What exactly are you afraid of…

Have a nice reading session

Nowhere does it say that the radar can smoothly and gradually follow a target throughout the zones as is the case in the game now…

Now - the Russian text in the book says something like:
Using the N001-16B, the pilot performs the initial selection of the operating mode of the SУВ, selects the method for solving individual tasks, and manually controls the position of the search sector of the radar systems.

That to me is NOT saying that the TWS can smoothly graduate from zone to zone. No mention is made at all of the function of it in Automatic mode.

It’s a bit awkward when someone can read Russian isn’t it?

cool i guess, just pointed out the way. you dont have anything that says otherwise.

something versus nothing, thats what is akward right now.

Highlighted Text:

In this case, the center of the scan zone coincides, in azimuth and elevation, with the angular coordinates of the dangerous target.

Says nothing about moving smoothly between the 3 scan zones does it?

If the center of the zone coincides with the target coordinates at any given moment, the antenna rotates smoothly.

Discrete antenna positioning (limited to three positions) cannot ensure that the center of the field of view is aligned with a “threatening” target. Such alignment would be possible at only three specific points, whereas the description indicates that it occurs continuously.

You’ll have to point out to me the word ‘continuously’…because I can’t see it in the text.

If you do not understand the meaning of what is written, or do not want to understand it, then that is your problem.

So you’re making stuff up now then. Good to know.

At the very least you are ‘interpreting’ the descriptions in a rather beneficial way that I feel would not be given to a Western system…

Think of it this way,

Old TWS (3 sectors) does not track targets at all. It basically functions more or less like a SRC radar but you get some heading targets on screen. At no point is the scanned target aligned in the center of the elevation or azimuth.

But

For this to work, TWS must be able to do what I said earlier at any given time.

Except not only every western radar in game at this BR already does this, but does it better than N001/N019.

It literally says so right there. It states that the radar sets the center of the zone exactly to the target’s coordinates.

Target coordinates are not limited to three discrete positions; they have an infinite number of variations.

Consequently, the radar can set any point as the center of the zone.

I can only repeat:

For example, this is old TWS (sorry for quality, is screen cap of a bad res replay)

You can see here that at no point is the center of the scan zone is centered on the target. In fact, this is impossible to do with old N001 TWS.

That the scan zone is stated to “coincide” both in elevation and in azimuth means that old TWS is incorrect. Because old flanker TWS did not have the capability to track scanned target. Sure it’ll display on your 3rd person view, but it was incapable of tracking them in the center of the scan zone the way every other TWS radar did.

Very well - point conceded.

What im gathering in auto mode, if a target crosses a boundary and gets caught between two zones, the radar physically has to step or jump to it. In manual mode, if you soft-lock a target and he drifts off, you drop him completely because he crossed out of the sector, and you have to manually switch over to grab him again in the other sector he crossed.

It doesn’t mean that three sectors are unlocked in the “TWS” mode.

The issue with this is 1. radar is not centered in the azimuth and 2. the radar still isn’t tracking the target in the elevation, which are both problems old flanker radar had as I pointed out earlier.
