A ~3km range missile because no targeting pod currently against 10km SPAA.

Ok, cool show me the Laser guided ordnance on the A-7.

And that need for precision is offset by the large HE warhead to some degree, and It’s not like the AGM-65 A has a very good optical train so it isn’t really all too useful as a tool for searching for threats, sure tis fine for investigating points of interest, but that doesn’t make it great. It’s got a fraction of the zoom of the -65B and lacks the IR channel of the WGU-10/B equipt Mavericks.

Not if you cut throttle, and drop flaps to reduce the IR signature and improve the glide ratio, and / or preemptively deploy flares, as Stingers arbitrarily lack the Contrast Lock-on Range extension mechanic.

I wouldn’t call having singularly good access to higher caliber HE rockets and CCIP bad, by any stretch.

It doesn’t seem too likely that their Western counterparts will be added (e.g. Mk. 28 Mod 4 5", 6.5" ATAR, Mk.63 5" Zuni, etc.) at any time in the future.

You say that like the US isn’t for basically all intents and purpose stuck with the same underperforming missile that they have had available from 10.7. Because the other options straight up haven’t het been implemented, and I doubt that if they were to be they would be added to all that should have them. Don’t forget that basically all airframes older than the F-100 could take a Pair of Shrikes, Sidearms or HARMs (outside 2 or three edge cases) each at a minimum.

It doesn’t self destruct at 3km, what stops it from traveling longer? I’ve most certainly died to the Kh-23 from further. And I’ve gotten kills with the AGM-12B from near 8km, sure it requires good aim and a cooperative target, but its not that hard to ride a stream of tracers back to the SPAA, at the end.

Still, why the heck I would use any laser quided munition , when F&F is available.
If you cant get points to spawn on best ordanance , then either dont spawn or use dumb rockets instead. Even 500kg bombs is better option in SU25 compared to 25L , first plane they can be used is actually 25st, and there’s no thermals in that, what would make it a lot more effective.

Please, It seems you dont have su25, so go test fly that premium version, and then let’s keep talking about useful tools, even that seeker is a lot better compared what you get on su25.
Edit, I’ll save your time. This is what longest zoom in Su25 looks on target against 2.5km:

And this is from TV seeker from mavericks.

Now , tell me what is better? :D

Yeah, you can dodge stingers on barrelrolling, and spamming flares, now try to aim that 25L on target same time, especially if that lav is moving.

well, compare it what USA cas has to offer and it actually is quite bad.

yeah, and that underperforming missile is actually good when having F16 airframe example.

Either you stand still, or plane actually has optics what to use if you get killed by those on longer distances. it’s normal to fire those on 8Km ranges, especially on SU24 what actually gets optics to use those.

did he just compare a TV guided bomb to a MCLOS?

all of this are useless when you are diving head first toward the enemy with laser guidance since no soviet jet had any of those targeting pods and their sensor is actually mounted on the nose of their jets they actually literally have to dive alongside with their munitions until it hit

oh boy, someone never played 9.0-10.7 soviet cas here

When it is favorable to use it as they as they have a tendency to have the larger warheads, or you don’t have the SP to take F&F ordnance.

The AT capacity of FFARs really isn’t great. and overflight of a target with dumb or high drag bombs is much more risky.

Notice the really poor FOV of the AGM-65, its not amenable to scanning for targets which you would have to do without outside help in the marker-less modes.

Considering that the Stinger won’t be leaving the rail with a useful track it’s a non-issue, maintain pure pursuit; the LAV-AD dies.

You are at much less risk since you don’t need to scan, find the target warm up the seeker check the lock, fire and leave. You only need to Scan, line up fire and leave.

The closes equivalent to the FFAR, is the S-8KO so it’s not as if that option just doesn’t exist.

And with the poor maneuverability of the Maverick, the minimum range is significant for even small introduced pointing error, and significantly impacts your achievable slant range against more distant targets.

The selection of airframes doesn’t change much in terms of missile performance does it.

Does it somehow not fly straight past 6km, and have a better warhead?

Neither do most US jets that are relevant to the discussion until about the same BR (even though options such as the Pave Spike / Pave Tack and ATLIS II are missing in action) anyway.

Ever had to try and use a Roland? It’s not hitting anything though even the most gentle of maneuvers.

dude is still on this despite people already showed him a THERMAL GUIDED BOMB on A7 a luxury that soviet cas wont have until 11.3

all of this and you never flied a soviet jet. alright everyone shut up, someone who never played soviet jet is giving his opinion about it. im sure it wont be blind hatred or biased

it acts like a bomb. still an unfair advantage over vehicle of the same BR, the Su-17M3 though which only get access to Kh-29L

did i mention A-7 can carry 6 of these though? meanwhile Kh-29L only 2

like i said. It is only unfair if soviet get them but it is fair when they get them i see no absolute reason for Su-22M4 to not be in 10.3-10.7

Give US AGM-88E so I can bully T80s and T90s

Thermal guided bomb on A7 eh? Do we play the same game?

Didn’t know that any of the A-7s had access to the ?GBU-15?

It’s not though it still uses the HEAT damage model, not HE. and so loses a significant amount of the radial effectiveness it should have because of it.

Maybe just design better ordnance? It’s bad enough that Contrast seekers straight up got removed because the Russians had no equal and all IIR seekers leverage data from the AGM-65D & -65G regardless of origin.

Probably access to R-60M’s, the same way the A-7K gets the BR tax for having AIM-9Ls.

did your A-7 didnt come with AGM62?

I dont remember walleyes having your mythical IR guidance, but ok whatever works for you

choose one AGM62 is weak because it doesnt have HE model or AGM62 is weak because it is unpowered. please choose one guys and do remember Su-17M3 get neither of TV guided bomb nor missile

i do remember putting IR/TV on them looks like someone has been cherry picking

either way did soviet get anything with TV in 10.7?
