Remove high pitched whine from Bkan

For real, have you never played the thing? When standing still there is a constant ultra high pitched whine in the perfect range to cause permanent hearing damage.

I need to remove my headset when playing the vehicle otherwise I can hear the whine even after I stop playing.

This is not just a bug its a literal health and safety issue.

“My Engine Volume” set that to 27

I haven’t heard that whine you’re talking about at the volume through any time I’ve played the Bkan. Literally just lower your own engine volume and raise other player engine volume, it’ll help you a lot in the long run

My volume is at 27…

Its the pitch of the sound…
Its between 14kHz and 16kHz
Which is a range of sound people above the age of 40 naturally loose the ability to hear and most above the age of 50 can not hear that range any longer.

It was for a time used to get young people, squatting in the entrance ways of houses, in some eastern european country out of there. But it was deemed illigal because long exposure causes hearing loss…

So if you can not hear it you are either old or have slight hearing loss already.

Oh no I’ve heard it, I’ve just never noticed an issue with it (in terms of volume)

If you have Dolby Atmos or any other software that allows you to mess with your volume equalizer, you can mute the pitch alltogether

It might be a bigger issue on PC than on console too

It’s called a turbine engine, and it’s accurate to the tank…

No and no

Turbines do not produce such a high pitch, its much lower (from someone working around turbine engines on a daily basis)
And accuracy does not excuse putting a health risk into your game.

Welcome to gas turbine engines. Stop playing on maximum volume…

Edit:

I play on system volume 40, game volume 43 - 53, and my engine volume 27 other 100.
My motherboard and thus audio controller is different thus your settings might need to be different.

I with my hearing have not had issues with anything other than piston engined aircraft due to said settings.
You clearly have had issues on your end.

You got something wrong with your game if you have that much trouble, maybe corrupted sound file or a bad speaker system.

You shouldn’t be having ear piercing value bro. Otherwise just cope bruh, turbine engines are on many top tier vehicles so you will need to get used to it

i think u have a corrupted sound file
try an equalizer or reinstall the game entirely

Or perhabs I simply have good hearing?

And they do not produce that high pitch. YOu can literally see that in any equalizer software

Nope

Wanna bet?

Edit:
Better newer video where He is just about to start the turbine (timestamped to 6:00):

But this however:

I agree with.

you mind recording the sound and send it here?

as someone currently studying aviation maintenance, yes, yes they do. often they do take measures to decrease the sound pollution caused by the engines though

I did not want to go into too much detail as it is off-topic.

The point is that turbine engines in the wild do not make a permanent high pitched sound as their main sound or even as a fully perceivable sound.

We could go into pitch cancellation, which is the reason why tanks like the Abrams are considered so quiet, sound isolation (in this case the pitch remains constant even when using scopes or binos which should not really happen) and many more sounddesign or physics concepts.

I only work around various aircraft and not the turbines outside of their target vehicles, so if you say that they make a constant high pitch sound as their main sound when outside of the machine, who am I to disagree.

The main point remains that the sound hurts and is in a range where it will cause hearing damage.

So frankly, Even if the sound is 100% realistic in game(which it is not) it should not be that way for the simple reason of this being a game and users can not be expected to wear hearing protection while gaming or not use their headsets.

they do when starting, hover the sound is often drowned out, also I was referring to aviation not specifically tank engines

And the sound I am talking about is the idling sound, not the driving or starting up sound. Just the sound the tank makes when you stand still or in simpler car terms. The sound your turbine makes when “in neutral”

aviation turbines have the sound drowned out, not ground based ones

I agree with the majority of your post.

This however:

Refer to the two previously linked videos. It’s actually even worse IRL. the one game turbo whine has been toned down by A LOT compared to how it sounds IRL.

But i see your point, there should be an accessibility option for engine sounds so players could at least make their own engine sound less “whiney” but only for themselves and not others.

Edit:
I just test drove it to compare the sounds and to me it’s not that loud at all, it’s very annoying, absolutely, but not to the point of risking injury as you put it. I can even increase the volume to more than double what i usually have without the whine being a health issue.
You might actually have an issue with your sound settings/game if it’s that loud for you.
