It’s not an issue with his PC.
I have it too. It’s the sole reason I don’t play the bkan. It’s so high pitch and annoying.
I can only desribe it as being like those devices some people have to keep cats out of their garden.
You haven’t ever been around the earliest, first ever tank with a turbine engine, which was indeed very loud.
The reason i’m personally bringing up the PC issue is that he claims it’s loud enough to pose a health risk. It’s absolutely annoying. but if it’s loud enough to be a health risk then something else is likely wrong somewhere.
Yep, he’s a very hyperbolic person
Volume is only one factor for sth being damaging… Pitch is another.,
I never said it was loud I always said “High pitched”
A litte infro sheet regarding high pitch/frequency and hearing loss
No I am a very percise person and when i write “hight pitch” I mean “high pitch” if I wanted to say “loud” I would use the word “loud”
So maybe you should stop seeing the two as synonyms
Have YOU lugged around an entire case of 155mm HE on your head? I’d be whining too, let the poor girl be
Well volume still plays a direct role, if the high pitched noise is low volume you wont get hearing damage from it. It might require less volume compared to a lower pitch, but there is still a volume at which it starts being a risk (or stops depending on the direction of change in volume).
Just high pitch alone without the volume needed wont be a health risk.

Yes, it’s high pitched, yes, I understand that, you are saying it’s causing hearing damage. I have an above average hearing strength and yet it hasn’t damaged my ears from the numerous times I’ve played the STRV 103 and it’s Bkan derivatives, leaving me with no impairment.
The article I linked also mentions that these kinds are more often temporary than permanent, but does that make it really better?
I am not asking them to make a turbine sound like a diesel. All I want is the removal of the highest range pitch (above 14kHz , which is inaudible for most above 40-50+ anyways) to a more subdued turbine sound.
It would also be possible to have the higher pitch be more noticeable at range so as to not make these tanks more stealthy (but they really should be)
I am not asking for a balance change, i am asking for the removal of sth that adds nothing positive to the game and is potentially detrimental to the players health.
And just to add. I do not play the game on high volume… I have no tools to measure it at home, but my headset is set to around 15-20% from max volume, so i`d say anywhere from 40-45dB? Which is really quiet as ambient is around 25-30dB and Gemini tells me that 80-85dB is normal for headset gaming, but that seems far too loud considering that 75dB is already a reccomended hearing protection at work with 85+ being mandatory.
That’s why, your master volume level is way too high, mine sits at around 40%
That is not how it works mate…
Not at all
If you are becoming temporarily impaired from playing warthunder, it’s DEFINITELY not the game
I’m not entirely sure, but couldn’t different volume sliders have different curves?
Like if one slider (let say in-game) does a flat increase/decrease across the board and another slider (let say windows) does a weighted increase/decrease where lower pitched sounds increases more in volume than high pitch sounds?
It wouldn’t hurt to try at least. to lower the in-game slider and increase the windows volume.
