Remove Aim Assist - It's anti-competitive

It’s hilarious to think that people playing on ULQ actually can’t see themselves shooting rocks and junk they cannot see…

‘Why’s this not getting them, DAMN NETCODE… Better fire again!’

With all due respect, this is nonsense and wrong.

In MSPaint? Man, that’ll be tough. I don’t know if that will even work if Barney-style doesn’t.

I went with using “alt” buttons. D-Pad and ABXY do eight total things, but then you also get “click Left Stick plus ABXY” and “click Right Stick plus D-Pad” for another eight functions, for example. Plus potentially a further eight the other way, though that’s a bit more awkard, so better for niche things (open/close cockpit, cockpit lights, smoke, etc).

You can also double up similar functions that don’t overlap; bombsight view and Schräge Musik view on the same button, for example. On that note, I don’t even use “ideal” buttons, as I have separate ones for each cockpit/tank view, use flaps up and flaps down instead of toggle, etc.

Another handy one is setting increase/decrease/reset zeroing and rangefinder to “Left Trigger (zoom) and D-Pad”, meaning they’re only active when zooming in… when you want to be using them.

The reality is, console players don’t have a prayer without some form of assist in the game. Joystick controllers are a poor input device for this type of game. When cross-platform first started, console kiddies were at a huge disadvantage (you could almost predict which team would lose by how many console players they had.) Now at least they hold their own. As with most point and shoot games, the best players statistically be on m+kb, even if the console kiddies get aim assists or other crutches (Exhibit A: needing such things indicates that they cannot compete otherwise.) I would wish you fun and enjoyment playing, but this is War Thunder… :-D

I think an option to turn off crossplay would be better than giving one control layout an artificial advantage. there’s a big enough player pool for it to not cause issues

As a console player I am sick of hearing this misleading nonsense. PC players already have a huge advantage with point and click mice, and aim assist TRACKING is not an aimbot - that is a third-party illegal cheat that only PC players can use. This is purely a skill issue so ‘git-gud’ because you already have a huge handicap over console players. And, if you’re losing to those of us who are beating you anyway, then go play some garbage like WOT or maybe Minecraft.

got to be honest the aim assist can be too strong, at least on SPAA. I can quite often tell if a console player is the one that shot my plane from where the bullet hit. if it was a single bullet to the engine its a console 70% of the time. Happens too often to not be coincidence

Careful - you will wake the CAS trolls … 🙄

The more CAS trolls, the more food for my planes. I take fighters into GRB and hunt planes and Helis. Its quite often the reason why my team wins. Enemy spawns plane with expensive bombs, instantly gets eaten by a spitfire mk24 or hornet, has no SP left, and my team has fewer enemies to deal with. I only really die in the mk24 when I either get swarmed by several jets, console aim SPAA or under tiered radar SPAA

Then come play naval with me, bring your plane and watch how an AI PT boat-bot shreds your wings at 12,000 feet with a 12.7mm HMG, and we can both share our pain and rage 🤣---->🐌

I enjoy my HMS belfast and Kamikaze Wyvern combo. AI AA is crazy good. probably should be a little worse so not every aircraft spawn is a suicide rush but its better than CAS being top dog there too

I hear you … I dig my USS Nevada & P-80 w/x2 1000lb combo – until my jet gets shot out of the sky @ 15,000 ft by some bot PT boat. Never mind that it is literally ballistically impossible for an HMG mind you 🤨

arcade player?

Console players are in such disadvantage that makes it almost impossible to be good. First on PC you can disable grass to get clear vision. You can change tha graphics settings so you can see certain things better. You have limitless keybinds. All PC players need to play at least once on a controler and try to rotate camera and controll the plane at the same time. You need like 10 keybinds for the radar only, but you have only 12 buttons and 2 sticks. This aim assist you are talking about might help you in arcade rank 1 tanks.
Today a got PC player writing me personal message how I am using aim bot in top tier jets, after I killed him with a radar missile.
