Removal of Japanese Ho-Ri SPGs from the Research Tree and Sale

As already mentioned, there were no Japanese direct replacements. Japan has since had a whole Thai line added with plenty of ground attack aircraft. So that there were sufficient aircraft within the tree that the R2Ys could be phased out.

Not answering the question yet again.

He’s complaining, as have I, that the 75 & 99 aren’t sufficient replacements and thus should remain

Brick wall conversation.

Because Japan has no domestic replacements, then the R2Y2s should stay.

Gaijin kept saying the F-16AJ was added because of the tech tree gap and balance issues back in the day.

But right now, Japan has the F-15J at 12.7, F-4EJ at 12.3, and both the F-5TH TCU and F-2A ADTW at 13.0. Plus, the regular tree has the F-2A at 13.7.

The gap is literally gone and balance is fine. Are they really still using the ‘tree gap’ excuse to keep the F-16AJ in the game?

Sadly, as mentioned several times now, not everything has a “direct” replacement. The German vehicles that covered the King Tiger 105mm, Panther II and Flak 341 could also not be considered “direct” replacements. Its the same case here.

This is not a rule in game and was the primary reason sub trees were introduced. Not all nations have domestic equals to everything by themselves.

Yeah but they’re still German. You didn’t replace Flakpanzer 341 with a insert nation of choice besides Germany vehicle.

Because Germany has significantly more domestic examples by itself than Japan.

Then make it a rule dawg.

Poll the community too if

We have no plans to return the R2Y2s.

Then make the plan

Then where are the vehicles bolstering 7.0-7.7?

And again, this is the first time that Gaijin has announced the removal of a vehicle without adding a replacement in either the update before or the update after said announcement.

The Germans: M48 and Ostwind II

The Chinese PT-76: Object 211

The R2Y2’s: Thai subtree

The Ho-Ri’s: A vehicle added over two years ago apparently…

The replacement has already been added at the same BR and main role:

We appreciate in your personal opinion you do not consider it as a replacement. However the facts of the matter remain the BR and role (TD) have been filled.

My question wasn’t that.

My question is why Gaijin changed the rules and used a vehicle that’s already been in the game for so long when that has never happened before.

Or in more base terminology: Why is Gaijin choosing to be lazy this time around.

The vehicle type within the confines of Gaijins classifications has been filled but the role hasn’t.

I can only fit so much on my screen…
but that’s really beside the point, Japan currently has an air line that ends at 3.7, the fact that we got a C&P F-84G… an absolute garbage plane, and a C&P Alpha jet doesn’t change that huge hole in the TT that is Japans naval bomber line.
And not everybody wants to play copy slop they already have in several other TTs
And lets not even start on how the R2Y1 in the V1 configuration is a real plane that just got bombed before the jet engines where installed.
However the R2Y2 is kind of going off in the weeds for this topic.
So I will just end with suggesting nations like Japan/ Germany should get a little more leeway in what is allowed as they had many interesting designs that where cut short only by their defeat. Vehicles that where planned and well into development should be allowed as that are far more interesting than another C&P alpha jet, F-84, M47 etc etc. While I do think C&P has a role in Warthunder I don’t think it should be used as a replacement for unique and interesting vehicles, even ones that had their development cut short.
Just my opinion of course.

There has been no change of rules. Nobody created a rule that the replacement vehicle must come after the vehicle has been removed. The Type 99 was introduced and as explained within the article:

Whilst its replacements were introduced, we continued to check avalable information on the Ho-Ri and its plans. Sadly it turned out none of the Ho-Ris were fully realised. So we could now proceed with its planned removal.

Regardless of how much harm it’s removal does to Japans uniqueness and playability

On top of that, the F-16AJ is even worse at 12.7. Just look at how the F-16A series performed in the past with only two Sparrows for BVR. It was awful. I literally have no idea why this thing is still in the game.

I’d honestly like an answer to this question too, because one of my most anticipated tanks to still have to come to War Thunder is the KV-3.

Which got as far as a real hull, a real gun, but only a wooden mockup turret.
But the order for production was already signed.
It only got cancelled because of Barbarossa.

Does that make it “Not real enough”?
