I fully accept that decorative bushes are a monetised item and that Gaijin makes money from them. I am NOT suggesting their removal or a refund system.
That said, there is a fairness issue when it comes to thermal sights.
Bushes currently obscure vehicles even when viewed through a gunner’s thermal sight. This gives a clear gameplay advantage that goes beyond visual camouflage and enters the territory of pay-to-win visibility.
Thermals exist specifically to detect vehicle heat signatures. Surface decorations like bushes should not meaningfully hide a tank’s thermal profile, especially at ranges where “just MG them off” is not a realistic option.
Suggestion:
When using thermal sights, decorative bushes should be fully visible / transparent so that the vehicle silhouette and heat signature are not obscured. Outside of thermals, bushes can function exactly as they do now.
This would:
Preserve Gaijin’s monetisation of bushes
Maintain their usefulness in non-thermal gameplay
Restore fairness in combat
Make thermals behave in a more realistic and consistent way
This change does not remove content — it simply prevents decorative items from providing an unfair advantage in thermal combat.
They just need to update the game engine so bushes are more dynamic. Right now it’s just a flat piece of camo that acts weird on angled plates. It should bend around the edges of the tank so I can still see where the UFP or breach is for example.
This is the kind of dynamic camo we need.
And is it even possible to have a tree branch stand upright with no support where the UFP and LFP meet?
Bushes need to match the contour of the tank and tree branches need to be realistically supported and still sag in some aspect. It shouldn’t be I’m planting a tree right on my tank. It should be I’m hanging a tree branch on my tank.
If you didn’t already know:
Bushes can be obtained through the battlepass every now and then (not sure how often, i think it’s ever second pass or something?) for warbonds. So they are obtainable without paying for them. It just takes a lot longer.
This is however a great suggestion:
@CollectorOfSins If there isn’t already a suggestion for making bushes follow the contours of tanks (while still being 3D imo) then i think you should create one. :)
Breaking the contour of your tank is what you’ll want to do in the first place if you want to hide yourself from human eyes.
In your last picture, those branches on LFP could easily be rotated 90 degrees and foliage wouldn’t fall down, following tank’s lines.
I would, but I never made a suggestion before. I will give it a try i guess. Im thinking of writing another suggestion for a radar filter to take out enemy missiles and leave only air targets but I will see what I can do.
Fair point, i suggest then to make the bushes themselves more 3D but have the back surface of them follow the tank surface. I hope i explained that well enough :P
I paid for this so I use them as I want, I only accept it if Gaijin changes the way they work, if Gaijin doesn’t change anything it should remain as it is.
I recommend reading through their rules and guidelines. It’s also a good idea to look at other already approved suggestions in the same category that you are planning to make one to see how they have made theirs and to see what tends to get accepted.
Yes that camouflage that breaks the contour does exist when the tree branch is that big and structurally stable, but I think camo bushes and tree branches should purely be a cosmetic choice. Yes it can be used IRL to an advantage but that kind of camo is unfair for people to buy with GE. If it was available to everyone then this wouldn’t be much of an issue. The more modern choice of camo where it matches the contour is more aesthetically pleasing and doesn’t give an unfair advantage.
Nothing says competitive like a person using every advantage they have to be competitive, this includes bushes. All’s fair in love and war, as they say.
You don’t need big branches to have structural stability.
Anything that is two fingers thick is definitely not bending around willingly, except branches from trees that have crazy flexibility and massive weight from foliage.
Even smaller size palm branches we have in game should remain rigid if placed on the UFP or turret cheeks.
Even in your pictures you can see branches mounted on the beak that fall down and obscure the lines between the beak and LFP, practically making the cut off point invisible.
Ok I couldn’t find the best pictures for the point I wanted to prove but the turret and UFP is still seperated. I’m still conflicted on whether camo should cover the LFP from the UFP. Ideally, it would be nice to have camo just cover plates that are elevated upwards. If Gaijin can implement camo physics where it sways to for example branches that cover the LFP from the UFP still bend inwards revealing the break between the two plates then maybe we can implement hanging bushes and tree branches. I believe the game already has this physics implemented where bushes on the ground near the muzzle will sway when fired. Again this all stems from camo being bought with goldean eagles. I would love for camo to play a bigger role if it was unlockable by grinding camo bushes for each vehicle at a time instead of being bought. For now, I think suggesting dynamic bushes would be a better fix than what we have in the game rn.
As a “competitive f2p game” as Gaijin said, item that broke the balance of the game shouldn’t exist in the game especially keep in behind the paywall. If competitive means using every advantage they have then using 3rd parties cheat application shouldn’t be a problems, as a competitive game should also kept some level of balance for both parties, gotta remember this is just a game.
Good for you. Bad for me.
Getting to the bush-tier of battlepass is generally super tough for me. But recently I did and got this flat bush the size of a frying pan.
Now I have to wait like 2 months, then grind like hell, for 1 in 6 chance of getting something decent.
The picture you provided shows exactly why they are not OP at all :P
On a more serious note, they are pay2win as most players will need several years to obtain similar collection to yours, and that’s assuming they grind every BP to like level 70.
