I honestly don’t know what to caption this. Update after update, things have been getting more and more absurd. Finally, we have reached the pinnacle. Russian ERA now has more stopping power than the LFP of a NATO main battle tank. Absolutely laughable
Stopping side-mounted Relikt from heavily under-performing for years is not “buffing it” anymore than a fix to Leclerc’s UFP would be “buffing” it [which still hasn’t happened].
Also, the only shot on the ERA was this one: And I see server issues here, cause that pens under all other non-server circumstances.
Also, no, Soviet ERA has less stopping power than NATO MBTs.
Somebody should tell this to all the t-90m crews out there that they should just drive out and show their sides cause their accurately performing relkit era will stop all darts.
They don’t in-game & they don’t IRL.
The singular round that was ruined by the game was ruined by client-server communications, not the ERA + armor itself.
If you think 175mm of protection stops MBT rounds, I have a bridge to sell you.
Edit corrected the mm.
It’s 175mm of protection, not 290.
I mean I don’t see why you wouldn’t give this advice, it apparently stops their turrets from going into the stratosphere, I’ve never seen that happen when they get hit from the front so why not try this out, it’s a big improvement
Server/client/server-client-communication errors are not indications of vehicle modeling.
Calling out errors when they happen is something we should do.
We shouldn’t excuse errors by falsely claiming the models are a certain way when they aren’t.
I don’t even know where the claim that M829A3 was designed purely for Kontakt-5 originates from, as far as we know the round was developed generally against the arising threat of Heavy ERA, and Relikt technology was never exactly a secret, in fact the very patent that is associated with the M829A3’s development (US6662726B1) literally depicts a double action Heavy ERA interacting with the penetrator, so the people who designed this round were completely aware of this concept.
At the very least M829A3 and rounds with similar capabilities should be able to by-pass the side ERA bricks without any issues.
The argument relies entirely on introduction dates. Relikt is 3 years news so m829a3 couldn’t possibly be effective, i context its not s particularly good argument, relikt is was hardly unexpected or particularly innovative.
In the video, where the round does an almost 90 degree turn as indicated in my post:
Relikt + armor on the side cannot protect against any MBT round in the game, so any bounce will be due to hitting tracks, overlapping plates, and/or server-client issues.
Since tracks & overlapping plates weren’t hit, that means it was a server-client issue, which is indicated by the video posted on this topic.
ERA needs composite armour underneath to be fully effective at stopping modern tank rounds in their tracks. As you can probably tell, the sides of tanks typically do not feature composite armor, so although the Relikt will obviously add a decent amount of protection, it can not, and will not stop a modern tank round. Hope that helps.
Apparently A3 is bugged and not detonating ammo at the moment, which I think is what’s happening. The rounds go in, damage the autoloader etc but the ammo doesn’t go.
This is more an issue that M829A3 is currently bugged and does not consistently detonate ammo even when directly striking it (and this goes across all tanks) and almost impossible to detonate when going through fuel tanks first
That’s likely what was happening in this clip. nothing to do with Relict
