No matter how you tune the automatic transmission, it won’t solve the issue with the massive turn radius.
With manual transmission, you can downshift in advance to somewhat reduce your turning circle. An automatic transmission simply can’t do this, as it has no way of predicting what you’re about to do.
Watching your test drive videos is honestly absurdly hilarious! You’re literally just driving along a pre-planned route specifically chosen to hide all the flaws of this mechanic. In actual combat, this feature is going to cause far more frustration than enjoyment, and you’ll see it for yourselves once the devs let us test it in REAL battles.
Gaijin won’t launch this mechanic on the live server since there are a few bugs to fix before that happens. And of course you used the Strv, the absolutely worst tank in your video, the one that has the most unrealistic turn radius by far. The SEP V3 can easily take that turn at full speed “drifting”
Automatic transmission can be fixed, the reason for the massive turn radius is because the tank is using 5th-6th gear even at 20 km/h…
More like nitpicking the ONE tank that everyone has acknowledged to have a flawed implementation riddled with issues that must be solved before making proper judgement.
And also, even then, that turn would have been ABSOLUTELY viable if only you had given it a second worth of thought instead of just pressing A at the last second at full speed expecting an instantaneous 90° turn.
Could use improvement in regards to the auto shifting speeds of the transmissions and various bug fixes like you mentioned, but a MASSIVE improvement over the current system, at least in the type 10, Leo 2s feel a little clunky, but they are a metric shit ton heavier and physics is what it is
yeah… god forbid you actually think 3 seconds ahead and don’t just drift 40 to near 80 ton war machines down the street like it’s an over Euro beated anime:
because it’s an actual thing on SOME tanks
because the crappy steering has been destroying top tier on several MBTs, like the Type 90/10 and CR2s for years, this if fixing it, your inability to find the brake pedal is a you issue.
Guy that thinks using the brakes is too hard says what? people like you got engine steering removed from naval and I wish your feet poke out from under your blanket every night FOREVER and your pillow always be a little too warm!
There you go, the M41 Bulldog is literally perfect. If this tank can behave like this then there is zero reason they can’t fix any other. This whole video was just holding W, I didn’t even have to brake
Also look at this. This feels like the Challenger 2 OES got it’s horsepower doubled, it’s insane. I encourage anyone to try this route on the live server with the OES. The game is not only about taking tight turns into alleys.
Modded again of course. But the regenerative steering is just a “toggle”, it adjusts itself based on gear ratios to every tank.
You couldn’t turn properly in urban maps while playing the Leopard 2A6 either. I don’t get why you just can’t admit that this mechanic has a massive flaw?
+Leopard 2’s current WIP iteration is flawed and needs to be polished.
-YOU COULDN’T DRIVE FLAWLESSLY WITH THE LEOPARD 2!
+I know, that’s because Leopard 2’s current WIP iteration is flawed and needs to be polished. For better reference, it should feel more like Type 10 currently does. Have you got anything to say about Type 10’s iteration?
-LOOK, I TRIED TO DRIVE LEOPARD 2 BUT I COULDN’T!
+I know, that’s because Leopard 2’s current WIP iteration is flawed and needs to be polished. Look at the Type 10 footage where it drives perfectly fine.
-BUT THE LEOPARD 2!
+What about Type 10?
-THE LEOPARD 2!!!
(And, of course, of 16+ minutes of footage I shared, you can only nitpick the same 4 moments of struggle that don’t even amount for a full minute).
Not when hes level with you. I mean you could have turned the turret only to realize that then the gun elevation limiter fks u over and you have to turn the hull for more than 90° to be able to aim level in a leopard…
Oh gawd damn it… that is such a perfect set up for a joke that would 100% get me a ban…
WIP… Also 70 ton tanks don’t turn on a dime… I would make a joke about learning everything you know about tanks from “girls und panzer” but even the animators of that show understand what happens when you try to drift them better then you
They are still gathering feedback, including the consensus that the mechanic is currently flawed, specially in Leopard 2’s case, for two distinct issues that hinder their low speed mobility too much.
“It SHOULD feel more like Type 10 currently does”.
It SHOULD. Not “the developers have made an official statement yada yada”. You are the one making things up.
We are striving towards improving and polishing the mechanic so it brings in the best of it without the artificial downsides caused by the subpar modelling.
Yet you keep acting like the only choice is “yes” or “no” for the current WIP iterations as if it justified going against polishing it for implementation.
Well, as of right now, that’s pretty much how it looks
Besides, the devs themselves stated that track braking is physically impossible on certain tanks.
At this point, I’m not really sure what specifically can be improved here to make everyone happy.
Leo 2s feel a little clunky, but they are a metric shit ton heavier and physics is what it is
I know it’s just an user mission so maybe it’s the SEP V3 that’s “too good” at the moment but it’s 7 tonnes heavier than the 2A6 and feels like a light tank compared to it.
Unless of course Gaijin will come up with some bullshit like “according to our sources the Leo 2s transmission is heavily flawed and outdated”
