Based on the following report
M1 Abrams (All Variants) Incorrect Special Side Armor
The Special Side skirts are still wrong, should be ~ a 32.5mm Strikeface (?HH-?)RHA plate +and a 32.5mm section of 2x composite Tri-plate assembies as shown in the X-Ray module.
Not the 65mm RHA they are currently after the change.
In short they should be slightly more effective than they are against KE, and significantly better against CE than RHA, with similar performance to the baseline M1’s NERA arrays(relative to the thickness of the elements).

So it’s pretty good at the moment, especially against autocannons.
I’m just making the point its not final. And knowing Gaijin they may well cut the protective qualities significantly, since half the thickness isn’t RHA.

Very underhanded of gaijin to “increase protection” while cutting the KE/CE multipliers and making the internal bulkhead almost non existent.

No, it went up to 440mm KE which is a 16% increase
yeah? the composite effectiveness against ke went up by 2% from 48% to 50%?

USA saves weight by switching out the hydraulic systems for electric drives, ditching several systems for lighter newer ones, and replacing steel road wheels for aluminum ones etc etc. But whatever I go cry in corner and this what gajin gives us when a new model tries to save weight, then proceeds to blame weight for no armor increase

yup, btw the t-64b went up two tons from the t-64a with new computers fcs and everything and the KE protection basically doubles within a lower time gap and without the material tecnology

And whats the result of the community action? Is the Sepv3 improved or is the whole frontal array still butter to 3bm60?
Its still butter to 3BM42… And M829A3 doesnt work on SEP or SEPv2 its still just M829A2

Sad that this company really thinks there are almost no western armor upgrades over the last 40 (?) years. Not even vs old darts like '42.

The volumetric improvements will apply to all abrams though, this means SEPv3 will have only a 2% increase over the other abrams

its only on the Trophy SEPv3 and M1A1. No other abrams has any changes

So every Abrams will still remain to stay the exact same with a measily 2% increase in armor from the 80s, blaming “weight” even though USA has saved weight in multiple areas like for example; Road wheels, Electric Drives over hydraulic, older clunky computer systems being chunked for lighter ones etc etc. Also whe will these changes be made? 2030? because the turret ring fix is only on 3 abrams atm and thats been a bug for 8 years. But hey instead lets pump out more premiums
Side note composite armor has gotten considerably more stronger and also lighter. But hey lets blame “weight”
