Gajin working overtime to buff the Abrams armor as minimally as possible.
Yes, but it’s a bit unfair that devs can base their opinions on reasonable assumptions, while players are required to defend a dissertation on tank design in reports, with no guarantee that their reports will be accepted.
Honestly something like this would be enough armor upgrade to be useful but not to break the balance.
M1A1HC/A2 LFP= 380mm KE > 450/470 mm KE
M1A2 sep v3 LFP 380mm KE > 500/520mm KE
I really hope they don’t put 20 mm KE more of armor on the v3 and call it a day.
If you buff the armor of the HC you’ll have to place it at 12.7.
I’d suggest looking into how ERA works
It is at 68°.
Can he get anything right ?
i mean at 12.0 witch it currently sits with this change it will be vulnerable to all tier 4 modification rounds of its’ battle rating range (11.0/12.7) at most it will cover some of the stock rounds.
Another point: regarding the document you sent that states the weight of the SEP V3 with APS, will you include APS on it? @Smin1080p_WT

Its already a 12.7 tank easily, only 12.7 Abrams and 2A7/122 compare with it.
yeah honestly the only thing that keeps it at 12.0 is the gunner thermal but it could be easily be place at 12.7 if they introduce 13.0
Gayjin ofc didnt take a look at weight saving measures mainly in electronics. Replacing old copper wires with fiberoptics saved 3-5 tons (atleast from what i remember)
Also funny how gayjin thinks they are smarter than engineers buildng tanks for a customer with 1.2 TRILLION USD funding.
Absolute cinema…
and lack of CITV
also that there are now two copy and paste premiums so they cant reasonably move it up without moving those up too
We need a lot more sub trees in order to give everyone enough M1s and Leopards to compete, which would have to come in before they unleash all the buffs.
I’m not sure how many people would like all those M1s and Leopards fighting themselves exclusively.
This idea is theoretically possible in a few years, but today or a few years back ? Doubt it.
Only thing that keeps it at 12.0 currently is the fact it’s copy, Click Bait, is a premium vehicle and can’t go above 12.0.
APS is not planned for this variant currently.
yeah i didn’t realize that, i guess the premium stats are so bad that it will probably stay like that for a long time.
Click Bait has good stats but can’t really move up more considering Gaijin still stands by their “no top tier premium” claim.
I think this all ends up with the same problem: how much exactly? With all the weight reductions in some parts and increases in others, it’s impossible to accurately guess the hull armor’s contribution to the overall weight, unless you manage to whip out a list of all exact weight changes for certain parts from M1A1 up to M1A2 SepV3.
Other than that, I do agree that Gaijin should at least show how they got to the number they ended up with
Yeah, I tend not to get hull shot often when in the Abrams except on close-quarters maps where I’m already showing my side armor anyway.
The front hull armor from my experience only manifests itself when I’m on wide open maps such as Fields of Normandy, otherwise I’m usually on maps where hull is either hidden or angled for positioning reasons.
So the turret ring improvements are a much more important factor for me personally.
If the hull roof armor would better represent its IRL capabilities of ricocheting APFSDS rounds as well, I’d appreciate that.
This article reads the same as my mind thinks when I’m researching vehicles.
All of my frustration comes from sources not telling me something important while telling me something is there.
BMPT, BMP2M, etc players: “About that…”
Considering there are rounds that can pen the starboard turret cheek at close ranges [and medium in the case of 292’s round], the cheek armor is appreciated.
