I have a suggestion for a way to balance the disproportionate AA vs Ground Attack Aircraft.
Most countries in real life, use aircraft for their anti air purposes instead of mobile AA, so therefore why not apply that to War Thunder, and allow planes to spawn in with an SP reduction after a certain amount of time, as long as they ONLY have AtA loadouts, as a way to combat CAS spam at top tier.
My proposed solution is this:
After every five minutes of a match the amount of SP for spawning in an air to air only loadout is reduced by ~75-150SP until the aircraft costs a minimum of twice an AA spawn (~140SP), this would be for top tier only, as that’s when AA starts to be outclassed by strike aircraft. While this doesn’t fully eliminate the problem, it hopefully will help reduce the amount of CAS spam.

Yep, good idea. CAP being so expensive has always been rather stupid to me. I get it to a certain degree at lower BRs where guns do decent damage. But at high tier (including 10+ into this) CAPs effective in A2G is mitigated greatly without dedicated CAS weapons, which can just have a high SP cost.
Its not necessarily about the loadout cost, 2x Aim-9Ls for example on the Sea Harrier FRS1 dont cost anything, but the base spawn cost of the aircraft is a little over 500.
I think this is an optimal middle-ground between having ground-only battles and the current state of the game. Well thought up, I’m in favour of this to a ridiculous extent.
The issue is you don’t want people first-spawning CAP, and you don’t want people spawning CAP prior to CAS.
So a time limit as suggested really is the only option.
Otherwise the team that spawns more CAP loses as a guarantee.
Yep, which is why I’ve always thought that CAP shoudl be cheaper, but having CAP SP cost reduce over the course of teh battle is a good way to mitigate canon strafes early game
Being able to first-spawn a plane with a full AA loadout at top tier would not be a bad idea. While yeah sure you’d be pretty much useless until CAS starts spawning, it gives an incentive for people to spawn SPAA at the start of the match too
I really, really, really do not like what you just said. Being able to first-spawn planes in ground realistic battles is sort of defeating the purpose of having ground battles at all. I believe TestandRecognise has found the optimal solution that would work well for the vast majority of players.
Did God send you? This would be a miracle! Only problem I have is I think 140SP is too small of a cost to spawn air. I like the idea as a whole though. An addition I would make, is adding a required score(maybe 1500 - 2000) in the battle to unluck the ability to pay SP to personally spawn in a plane in that match.
