If Speed and Firepower is the only thing that matters how come the KV series is still an extremely popular and potent vehicle?
I’m not really sure whether it should go down.
It’s just very survivable and can really help out the team early game just soacking up shots and firing smoke.
I was hit by a T-34-57 and a Breda 501. I didn’t see them but just shot some smoke, laoded HE and hit the Breda through the smoke as he revealed his position by firing.
You can also drive in one direction and have your turret face 45° creating a 90° zone where most tanks won’t pen you. With neutral steering you can quickly target anything that pops up, boosting your turret traverse speed by 50%.
Because KV-1 is what people play when they want to relax and unwind after a long day of shitposting on forums.
To singlehandedly carry games they play T-34.
@ArclightExpress yeah, good job getting those 5 kills. You sure proved me wrong by maliciously interpreting my words literally.
Murrika biasers:
All carriers of 76mm (3-inch) guns.
But need to aim weakened zones in frontal plating.
Bri’ish 17pdr can easily.
Like:
Archer.
But it in same TT, and absolute high-skill machine.
Sherman Firefly.
In same TT.
“Erika” enjoyers.
PaK40/3 L48 (Marder 3H, AlphaPuma, AlphaHanomag)
But only by APCR (182-159mm of pen)
APHE have 151-135, so can pen only from side/weakened places.
Hetzer - only by APCR, but can.
Dicker Max
187-173mm of pen.
Sturer Emil
248-234mm
Comrades:
ASU-57 can pen Churchill 7 in front from point-blank distance (APHE), or 100m (APCR).
SU-152:
171-160mm.
Banzai enjoyers:
Chi-Nu Kai, Chi-To.
Both can, but need to target weakened zones.
150-140mm.
Great Eastern Dragon:
ISU-152.
Pizza, Spaghetti and Mafia
75/46 M43
Sherman Ic/Vc
I didn’t make a screenshot of the chat but the last message was: I got first place in the Churchill Mk VII.
😂
I only got one kill before I was bombed by an IL-2
I actually got 8 kills while holding W and doing virtually nothing else, but trying to pretend that the Mk VII is somehow inferior to a KV-1 (any variant with a 76mm) or a T-34-76 is asinine and I think you might want to recalibrate your expectations of the infantry support tank that is already performing extremely well.
I also wanna bring up the fact that large caliber HE can absolutely annihilate the Mk VII, but the main weakness of the Mk VII is the inability to quickly respond to flanking attacks, especially from the rear. It’s not so much the heavy lumbering vehicles with railguns that are it’s biggest threat, but the medium and light vehicles with a reasonable gun that get around behind it.
However, due to the three lane map design and nature of the game, the attempt at getting around a Mk VII can be troublesome. But work should be put in to effective exploit a vehicle. I genuinely don’t see a reason for this vehicle to move from 4.7 downwards because all that will do is cause the existing tanks with only pure firepower as their main resource to be punished for no reason.
You say the Churchill Mk.VII is fine where it is, but your stats in this vehicle are not good, at least compared to other heavy tanks you play:
I never play for winrate so that statistic is irrelevant, I also like how you presented a challenge which I adequately met and you are still grasping at straws. I’m not going to play the personal statistics card because in this discussion it’s ultimately irrelevant. What is relevant however is the fact that this vehicle is not only good at 4.7 but adequately competitive. It faces similar vehicles like the KV-1 Zis-5 which trades armor for mobility and firepower.
Winrate means virtually nothing when the majority of your team is either playing merely for fun or not trying to win. Judging a vehicle on how often it wins the match it’s in is an extremely poor metric because there’s been dozens of matches I’ve been in just this month (August) ALONE where my team had fully captured all points and map control but lost the game because someone dropped a nuke.
You shouldn’t base your argument on assumptions.
I’ve played the churchill 7 quite a bit within the last six months, and the crocodile which is basically identical. In a full downtier assuming you don’t get bombed you can be very strong and easily top the scoreboard. The only time it struggles in a full downtier is large open maps since you are not effective at range and against other experienced players that know to just track/barrel you or hit the roof.
4.0 would be way too low for it, it would essentially be living in a full downtier permanently to where it is currently.
I don’t know why it’s at 4.7 because it’s worse than the KV-1E (which is at 4.0 RB/4.3 AB) and the KV-1 ZiS5 which have better guns. All the Churchills have thick frontal hull/turret armor, but they have a huge weakspot on the turret roof that can be penned by most guns even at 2km away.
The guns are also terrible on the Churchills. They have bad angle performance and post pen damage.
If you can make that shot, you can also hit the gun mantlet of a KV-1 or T-34 and take out his breech :)
It’s also not reliable. 64% ricochet chance at that angle.
This is true for most heavy tanks in the game, but I bet they all perform better than this one in such situation.
But I agree, maybe a jump straight from 4.7 to 4.0 is too much. Let it come down to 4.3 for 3-6 months and see if this ruins the game for other players in that BR bracket.
They just need to buff solid shot some more. The ARL-44 suffers from pretty much the same issues.
When i last time play GRB - i play Churchill 7, just as heavy damage sponge.
I push the line, while lighter machines, with more powerful guns (Firefly), cover my flank, and kill those, whom i cannot kill myself. (You just had to see that fight between the two handicappers when I clashed over a point with the KV-1E.
While I was breaking its tracks and cannon (and managed to swat the Alpha-Puma and the Pz.4H that was shooting at me), the poor fool was trying to punch me somewhere.
I finally neutralised him, and then the allied Firefly and Cromwell (57) arrived and put an end to his torment.)
So, yes.
As solo machine, Churchill 7 is ain’t good one (slow, weak gun (i in so f**king urge for Black Prince…)), but as living shield/vanguard for teammates - it’s just priceless.
And because of rarity of this tanks on the WT battlefields - not so many players know, where to pen this behemoth.
If you not so unlucky, that get to Tiger 1, and Panthers.
churchill mk7 at 4.0 gaijin pls i may actulay start playing gb
4.3 would fit it better tbh, 90% of players will be playing it at 4.7 anyway because of the SP30 avenger and firefly, if it goes too low its invulnerable to everything frontally. Its gun sucks ass at any br so that isn’t going to improve
Nah. I think the Churchill I, III and NA75 could go down. VII just needs actual M61 APHE ammo. Black Prince is fine now that most things went up around it.
