Ehh, ~100m is about right, 200m is a bit too far. I remember doing tests against a T-72B3M in my 2A7V a few months ago on Cargo Port on the highway, 250m was already too far out for DM53.
it is what it is…
why not make the arietes armor artificaly better to bring it on par with russian tanks?
Ariete’s armor is already artifically nefed because Gaijin doesn’t believe it even had hull composite…
well there you have it.
its the duality of criteria that makes ppl yell BIAS. and somehow gaijin can prove those ppl right.
From what I calculated, downwards angle caused by the difference in height between gun of leopard 2a7 and the hull of the T-80 is around 0.83 degrees at 100m.
I don’t think that’s enough… so I believe it’s more appropriate to say <50m (~1.66 degrees) or more like <30m (~2.77 degrees).
This isn’t as big of an issue as I thought, but tanking multiple shots would be a lot more difficult after the ERA blows up.
The corners of the front plate of the T-80s also are not covered by ERA.
I’m all for it.
If ERA was effective against KE projectiles - NATO would use it this way. This is just another game mechanic made as a handholding feature for soviet dirt buckets. If not for that - they would be completely outperformed by everything (which they should). Like everybody knows that soviet ERA is just magic armor in the game. If you’re experienced enough with the game - play one match against soviets and pay close attention to your own aiming. Feel that uneasy sensation when aiming anywhere around ERA? Especially driver’s hatch, turret front, hell, even some side shots. That’s it, everybody knows that if you don’t aim at their ERA - the chance of some bull… happening is far from being 0%. Btw soviet trashcan MBTs are the only type of tanks in the game able to tank a side shot in the turret. Guess why?
Let’s say that they get nerfed to their ‘actual’ performance.
One of their main upside (their armour) is gone now.
Wouldn’t that mean that they should be a lower BR?
The T-80BVM would probably be moved down to 11.3, the T-90M would probably go down to 11.3 too, and the T-80UD would move down to 10.0. The T-80UK would go down to 11.3 and the T-80UM2 would go down to 11.0.
Is this what you want?
I think 2A7V / 122B can do the same too.
doesnt gaijin advertize a “realistic game”?
why do other nations tanks have to be real (like the du armor in abrams) and russian tanks can just get a pass?
Nah, you just send it right through the breech or under the turret. Pretty fool proof.
Are you saying that Maus, Ariete, Is-4M, M103, Conqueror etc. etc. - should go down in BR?
I mean, if the ERA facts are true, I’m fine with them changing their ERA’s values and then moving those Russian MBTs down in BR.
You can shoot the roof / breech / gunner optics / commander optics too.
What does this have to do with anything?
I’m saying that it doesn’t matter in this game.
Conqueror, IS-4M, MAUS and M103 all have armour that can be useful if used properly (not sure why you mentioned Ariete).
I can’t really say the same with nerfed Russian MBTs that stay at the same BR after their nerfs.
And if armour doesn’t matter in this game, why are you complaining about Russian ERA ‘overperforming’?
I would say it’s as fair as the current situation we have in game currently where some vehicles get stuff and others don’t while some nations get stuff and others don’t.
I’m not advocating for this feature to be added or not just pointing out how we have things like the panstir and the leopards getting that nerf so they can’t aim to the side.
This is why I am for either making everything historical or throwing out the historical reasoning we have for some stuff and doing things for the sake of balance.
Are you really playing this game with us? First - they all face HEAT rounds, pretty much at any BR they play at. And a lot of it. Second - ALL of them have a chance to face APFSDS. They ALL face HE slingers, which shouldn’t be a problem, right? All do, right? If not for the fact that ALL of them are one of the if not the biggest targets on the map.
Most heavy tanks suffer in a full uptier - it’s just their nature.
Most heavy tanks can club in a full downtier, because most things cannot penetrate their armour.
Only some exceptions with light tanks and tank destroyers… but that’s reasonable given that’s their exact role.
HEAT rounds are an issue for the MAUS, M103 and IS-4M - but they don’t really do much damage (unless you hit ammo).
MAUS can survive 3/4 hits before dying, whereas the MAUS can 1-shot most HEATFS slingers.
Things that cannot easily pen the MAUS will have a difficult time dealing with it too - especially if they have to trade damage for penetration (such as using AP / SABOT / APCR).
Conqueror is a unique exception to HEATFS since it has spaced armour modification to nullify HEAT in most places.
I think 7.7s especially suffer in a full uptier, and I agree that there needs more decompression around that BR range.
I am not saying that it’s fair.
HE slingers are interesting.
I think they are pretty good… but at the same time pretty meh.
The problem is that HE slingers still need to aim. Instead of hitting the front plate (like other tanks do), they need to hit the lower portion of the turret mantlet, or the cupola to penetrate and kill (though how easy this is largely depends on the tank). The IS-4M is quite difficult to kill with HE, but the T-32 is pretty easy.
They also have incredibly bad turret rotation speed, are massive… and none of them have a stabilizer nor armour.
They are easy to deal with, but they are annoying to fight in a heavy tank.
They are effectively the tank destroyers of earlier BRs… like how the M36B2 or CA Lorraine can easily kill the Tiger H1.
Autocannon light tanks and SPAA easily take care of them - especially if they are not careful.
I think we can ask for historical accuracy to an extent.
If this historical accuracy negatively affects gameplay then there is no real reason to add it.
Historical accuracy additions should support gameplay – not hinder it.
If a mechanic improves gameplay, that’s good.
If it’s historically accurate and it improves gameplay, all the better.
even if it goes through like you said it still unrealistic because DM53 in the game that go through K-5 using it sheer penetration
real life DM53 not working like that it uses special anti ERA tip to delay detonation of ERA not only it owns sheer penetration like in the game.
Miscommunication on my end. What I meant is that newer rounds were developed.
