Ray tracing in latest trailer

Meanwhile people still playing on ULQ so objects don’t spawn in for them.

That’s their problem:) I recently enabled grass in gunner’s view, as it makes the world look so much more alive. I’m giving it a week or two for testing, before I reconsider it.

No, I think that’s everyone else’s problem to be honest.

Have a good time here.

Sweet, it’s nice they are giving us granular settings instead of the “Low-Med-High” options other games do.

Anyone can tell us what was talked about RT during the russian dev-stream today?
Did they mention what will be available when?
What do they still have to work on?

So is there a chance that they actually updated dlss/ made it useable then lol?

It is usable. You have to change the settings on the splash screen from DX11 to DX12 (Beta).

On top of this, stick it on custom, then medium unlocks all options. Then use these settings:

At 3840 x 2160, it’s just playable. Better at lower resolutions, of course. Just bear in mind you sometimes get crash reports and exceptions when adjusting resolution on DX12 Beta. Just reload, and it’s fine.

Hopefully, they will work on this to be more stable and better optimized, as I should get maximum ray tracing with a 4090. If my PC can handle Cyberpunk with everything set to max with over 1600 mods, I’m sure it can handle War Thunder.

my launcher does not look like that and only says auto for renderer, do you know why?

it needs to be the DEV server launcher

ray traced audio would be more meaningful by thousands fold and be less expensive to compute. also its baffling that fsr 3.1 hasn’t been officially implemented yet.

I wonder if this Ray tracing business is going to console? from a performance point of view it probably is not a good idea.

They also showed 5fps on the best of hardware. So dont count on using it just yet.

What I found on Dev server
-15% in air battles
-66% in ground battles
On ultra!

If you had 144+ fps it will remain playable or just don’t set RT to max.

im not exactly sure what you mean with the percentage thing. percentage doesnt really tell me useful info

If you had 100 fps, you will have 34 fps wit RT on Ultra. But it depends on map and surroundings.

In air battles fps impact is low. I’ve lost maybe 15 fps on it. From 100.

thats not exactly how it works. you also need to account for which graphics card you got. the less tensor cores, the harder the impact.

Sure. That was just my experience.

Ray tracing has seen a tenfold improvement since the first Dev server. I use a 4090 with a 12900k, and initially, I was getting 32 FPS on Ground Test Drive. However, with the second Dev Server, my FPS has increased to around 85 to 105, depending on environmental factors like puddles near a burning tank. This is a significant improvement.

I recommend most people play on Medium Ray Tracing settings to avoid mouse input lag and micro stuttering. It still looks fantastic and is a huge step up from the standard max graphics settings.

I agree having a 4090 means you should be able to play with RT just fine. But CPU also matters - especially with how much better War Thunder runs under AMD CPU these days. 9800X3D performs almost 50% better than Intel’s latest crud in War Thunder. But in the end, I think this is a case of War Thunder’s RT being unoptimised more than anything. They’ll iron it all out, surely.
