I’ve had hundreds of games where i managed to kill a single enemy to get into potentially spawncamping areas on lanes, no actual offroad at all.
Maps worth mentioning where you can reliably replicate such experience are Carpathians, Middle East, Rhine, Breslau, etc.
How that relies on a skill factor when its arguably a map design flaw?
Using lanes (intended, game built streets) ain’t skill. It’s literally where Gaijin intends to lead players into the map.
I’d invite you to read the comment again, but i fear i’ll get the same naïve answer.
I am NOT talking about “lanes.” I am talking about driving around the edge of the map for example to get in a position where you can intercept enemies that are about to leave their spawn. From my personal experience a tactic like this works better in low tier with less experienced players than in high tier. Doesn’t this makes sense to you?
We were talking about spawncamping as a skill-dependent dynamic.
If you don’t need skill to follow a lane, kill an enemy and enter spawncamping zones, congratulations: You have a dynamic that doesn’t depend on skill.
The only thing skill helps on spawncamping is the effectiveness of snowballing a game.
If they add skill based matchmaker, i want BR systems gone and skill based to overtake the balancing. If im playing equally skilled players, i want the vehicles on a level feild. no shot will the game be fun playing an F4E vs F16A AND the player is equally as skilled as you. it just wouldnt be at all enjoyable since you would never kill them.
Vice versa too
Right now, BR matchmaker with no skill based matchmaker works for aircraft (in particular airRB and strike airframes / off meta picks) the BR system works very well since you rely on your individual skill to pick engagements and assume the enemy is better then they are. most players are bad anyway so it allows the significantly handy capped airframes to be enjoyed. Again, the whole game would have to switch up how the BRs work and even move stuff around since everyone has the same skill (so every vehicle cant face significantly worse vehicles. Tornado GR.4 being the same BR as an F16A… the only chance you have is skill over the other player
And i would say that it is a reasonably wrong assumption, as its a thing that happens at any BR by players of any level, from 1.0s getting sealclubbed by vets, going through 3.0-4.0 games, 7.0-7.7 black hole mm, up to top tier, and having level 10 wallet warriors on every single BR mentioned, they all are capable to spawncamp at just 1-2 kills away by going through a lane.
That is not skill. At least, not at all assuming that fragging is out of the equation for common convenience.
Wasted 10 minutes watching a video to tell me some forum mod that isnt a gaijin employee used a chinese players video from billibilli claiming recent performance affects MM.
I really doubt it.
I got nothing but downtiers in the t64b at 9.7 and it ended up being my best performing vic, stat shark data also backs up 9.7 being a heavily downtiered br.
i agree, Everyone can do it. But won’t you agree that if a skilled player and a less skilled player face each other, the more skilled player would more likely be capable of doing this like you said?
And how do know a route is well applied? Most likely experience. I can tell from my own experience. I take different routes now compared to the first matches I played. I learned the maps, where are the good spots, which spots should I avoid, etc. Therefore I have an advantage compared to a new player. Therefore I could more likely push them towards their spawn and camp there. And that’s why I think, in the best case, I shouldn’t be matchmaked with new players.
But in the end a skillbased matchmaking was never tried so we will never know for sure how it would change the game till then.
Would a kinda simplified/Altered version of the SBMM be better?
The idea is that the Match maker looks at the players Play Time instead of their kills, wins, and such. This would be separated into 3-8 Brackets depending on the mode and would basically separate the knowledgeable players and the noobs. (With exceptions ofc)
This also means every player only ever goes up, never down.
For an example, For air we’ll say 4 Play Time Brackets. 0-80 hours [Bracket 1], 81-160[Bracket 2] 161-300[bracket 3] 300+ [Bracket 4] (This could also be applied to certain br’s so prop players dont suffer as much against good bvr players)
As previously stated play time is not decisive - humans have different learning speeds (in case they actually want to improve) and your proposal is assuming that people would be able to gain applicable experience aka skill over time.
Irl shows that 10-15% of citizen in certain countries have an IQ of 85 or less - whilst other countries (google global UN statistics regarding) have this as national average. Those people are simply not able to transform experience in play time into applicable skill. Based on several thousand hours of play time it looks for me like that a hell of them play wt…
well, in that case. Option 1: just increase the Brackets Or overlap them. instead of 1-80 we could do 1-120. or however long depending on the largest group of players.
Or option 2: add some dumbed down SBMM into this for checking if the player is knowledgeable enough to move up. If player has over x Kills/Score over y matches type. An example, when in 20 match’s your getting around 14 kills on average, you go up. (Or combine both so it’s based in the overlap)
there is no SBMM… the MM only knows 2 rules:
Not more then 4 Players of the Maximum BR, of the Bracked, per Team.
Not more then 4 Bombers per Team (Air Mode only)
I wouldnt be against it… but waiting times would be crazy… also the ±3 BR would need to go away first, also that u fight Aces vs Stock… wouldnt be really fair if the Best player on my team is 8.0 Stock but the best player in the enemy team is 9.0 Aced
I feel like people really skip over this or down play it.
If we had just 4 'skill brackets", that would increase the wait times by an average of 4x. I already have to wait 3-5min for a top tier ground rb match. I am not okay with changing that to 12-20min.
