Exactly why we need ACTUAL ELO/MMR and not just player level.
Player level says NOTHING.
Someone who spends 400 hours flying props in ASB will have zero transferrable skills to doing BVR combat in Air RB.
And vice versa.
Someone who always drove a tank will have the same issues going into naval and vice versa.
Character level is a meaningless descriptor as a consequence.
What we need is:
ELO per game mode
ELO per technology bracket
in other words,
A player has separate matchmaking in propeller planes and gunfighter jets, to dogfight missile jets, to BVR missile jets and their matchmaking rating should also be different between AAB, ARB and ASB.
What transferrable skills there are should be covered by initial placement games nudging you accordingly.
Idk what are appropriate brackets for GRB/GAB/GSB and NAB/NRB. For AAB/ASB/ARB, we might further want to split props and jets since jets have way different handling and gunnery to even superprops (handling becomes way easier, gunnery becomes way harder).
SBMM could work for like 4v4 air, not sure how you would do ground, its way harder to have an impact there without coordination. They were testing a ranked mode what ever happened to that?
Gaijins monetization is frustrateing players into spending money. So frustrating newcomers into buying crew skills, modifications or straight up a premium vehicle is what Gaijin wants.
SBMM kills every game it touches and their respective fun, and it turns them into a tryhard wasteland.
Considering War Thunder’s nature, it would really escalate the current toxicity.
In the name of queue times, I will be on snail’s side and say no.
I main 8.0-10.0 jets as those are the most fun, and getting matched into a very small game (especially with a bad aircraft) just means basically guaranteed death because you can very easily be singled out anf killed… SBMM would end uo being very very bad for everything so please, stop making threads that suggest ruining the game! Thanks!
yes, i also agree, SBMM is stupid system that forces good players to carry bad ones, is not fun. If Gaijin adds, I WILL chargeback every single cent ive spent on this game, i swear before god
I will say, playing with experienced players as a noob helped greatly. When you play both with and against high level players, you pick up things- knowledge, tips, cheeky moves and situational counters. It might be frustrating to get killed over and over, but there’s no better way to learn. As for top tier, I think you should be able to filter out noobs. They should learn to play the game before they jump right in to what is arguablly the hardest tier.
How about those who do squad? like I do squad with my new friend, it took him 1 hour to get his first kill. Meanwhile i easily get 10 kills, how will the rating be put in this situation?
The ELO system is a bad idea; it will only lead to more frustration.
The harder you try, the more you play against higher-level players and the less reward you get?
Think before you write…
