Still, different BR planes face different opponents, which makes their advantages either stand out more or removes said advantages when compared to opponents they face; same goes for disadvantages.
Early Bf109s play vastly differently than lets say K-4 facing superprops. And they arw, as you put it, the same plane just upgraded.
Again, different BRs and here also different kits. In case of ground RB, due to lineups, having different variants of single plane at different BRs allows you to play around with the maximum uptier you can see in battle.
Of course there are few planes which are functionally the same with only minor differences, but that issue is not unique to the US TT either.
While still being a variant of the same plane, they’re not really unique. If the BR made them unique then every aircraft would be unique, no?
True, one is upgraded to deal with different enemies but they don’t change the aircraft into something different. They are still the same plane.
But i do see your view on what makes these planes unique.
To me, strapping a m1911 to the base of a po-2 and giving it the name of po-2/19 doesn’t make it that unique. but going from the po-2 to pe-8 does make them unique.
I don’t want to comment on all because I just don’t have the time, but I want to talk about a few of them.
For example there is one P-38 in another tree, the Chinese P-38L. I can’t mark every other one as a copy just because of that, when they are placed at different BRs, with different performance and armament. The same goes for some of the others
Then some like the F-16ADF, P-47D-28 and SB2C-4 are not actually marked, I just marked the otger unique vehicles in the folder being the F-16A Block 10, P-47N and SB2C-1.
The A-4B is marked because it’s the only A-4B in game, while the A-4E isn’t because at that point I didn’t want to check the Israeli A-4s for differences. Looking back they’d probably be different enough with different cannons, armament and engines.
to continue on this topic, i decided to do similiar thing with the german and russian TTs.
so, just to remind:
with slight difference that im only going to compare rank IV to VIII for now (i really dont want to bother looking up captured vehicles and their variants and i definetively dont want to be comparing T-34/85 variants).
without further ado…
GER:
( i counted KVT for the US as unique, so Ersatz is unique vehicle too)
(one could argue whenever theres any practical difference between the new italian 1A2 and the german Leopard 1 but italian has its own model at the very least).
(wasnt sure about the M48A2 G A2, if its any different from Magachs, but ultimately theres no 8.3 Magach and the 8.0 have worse ammo and ERA. Also didnt count Kpz70 as unique on basis that i didnt count MBT-70 as unique either)
(2A7V is ever so slightly different and worse than 2A7HU so for the sake of argument, im counting it as unique)
This gives us 38 unique TT vehicles as opposed to 15 shared TT vehicles. Counting premium/event/squadron vehicles, that gives us 23 additional unique vehicles. (All that assuming I can count at all lmao, so someone please doublecheck).
Compared to 37 unique TT vehicles as opposed to 13 shared TT vehicles for US and 26 additonal unique vehicles in form of premiums/squadron/event, meaning Germany and US are actually quite similiar in term of shared vs. unique vehicles.
Now, for Russia
(theres actually chinese premium T-62 not usually aviable for purchase. As for T-72A, i decided to not count it as unique when compared to 72M1, because sole ingame difference, as far as i know, is extra 16mm UFP plate).
(i prolly got T-80s wrong so someone kindly correct me. couldnt find diference between 80U and 80U-E1)
so, this should give us 47 unique TT vehicles as opposed to 13 shared TT vehicles. Counting premium/event/squadron vehicles, that gives us 26 additional unique vehicles.
Reiterating that your choice of “unique” vehicles is still quite arbitrary, by your measure the likes of the premium M47 would also be unique as it sports smoke dischargers the standard M47 lacks, same deal the 2S19M2 is not a direct reskin like the cobra king and such, it is directly superior to the tech tree version of the vehicle, the 2S19M1. The elephant and Ferdinand can have the same conclusion drawn about them as their armor setups are different as well, with the elephant sporting a number of weakpoints the Ferdinand does not.
Still an F-8E, and also there’s a P-47D-28 in Germany. The D-30 is also close enough. The P-38 is still a P-38 and flies like one. Same for the P-39, the Russians also have an N model. I’ll give you the P51H, but the D models are available in other trees. The A-5 sabre is unique but the F-2 flies the same as an F-30, the only difference is you need to be more careful about ammo. The F4U-7 still flies like a late model Corsair.
Not trying to be that guy but I did put it under aircraft because I know this entire thing is irrelevant for ground. Due to the abram’s not being exported and a lot of other modern US tanks not being sold.
I was jesting, of course. If i wanted to get lolpenned through turret ring in Abrams id simply take out my US lineup for a spin, no need to add it through poland to, lets say, germany (which would be mess on its own and should be avoided).
Im not a fan of removing uniqueness of each TT, but with modern stuff it simply cannot be avoided. Moreso with aircraft. Developing new jets from ground up is expensive if not impossible wihout having estabilished aerospace industry already.
And hey, Abrams could be in worse situation - it could be as exported as Leopard 2s.
Without flares, at its BR that’s a huge detriment.
It has been removed, so not really there anymore.
But it only flies like the L, every other P-38 feels quite different.
Theirs lacks the wing guns.
Not the D-10, which is also extremely strong.
Well, it’s not the same though, is it? It will play very differently. According to Statshark it’s also currently by far the best performing F-model Sabre.
Heavier, but you get the SNEB pods. It will play differently.
Some of these may be minor differences but this does not make them copypaste additions.
It very much does not make them unique as they are still the same base design with minor changes, the efficacy of the vehicle is also completely irrelevant in this situation, the French wumbo has commonly done better than the US one even though both are identical, this does not make the French wumbo somehow unique.
