At the beginning of March, we’ll be introducing rank IX for aircraft research trees. This rank will include some existing top-tier aircraft, while some rank VIII aircraft will be grouped or relocated. Comparison images of the trees before and after the changes can be seen below. Check them out!

These changes are aimed at improving the research tree structure and aligning the vehicle Battle Ratings with their ranks to ensure progression is smoother. Affected vehicles are marked with a special icon in the game.
We’re announcing upcoming changes in advance to give you the opportunity to plan your tech tree research with an understanding of how the tech trees will look in the near future.
Remember when folders used to be for different variations of the same vehicle to let people avoid (if they want) to be forced to research the same thing multiple times instead of just random stuff foldered together because why not?
I hope some new jets are coming to that rank soon and its not just to make people grind certain plane slower because oh hey tier 7 premium jet cant grind tier 9
If I may suggest, France Mirage F1 ct should be foldered with the F1 c. Basically the same plane with just an improved rwr.
Also I don’t see the point in lowering the tornado f3 (adv for Italy) to rank VII, but fine
It’s just the forth time that I put a talisman on a high rank aircraft just to see it going down in rank, making it totally useless. Guess I won’t buy anymore from now on.
Absolute slop, this clearly shows that they dont want you to use the current premium or talismans to farm, just so you can buy another 80$ vehicle from them. Great marketing move there.
Probably because of its too low br for rank VIII.
There is a lot of empty space now, hopefully they won’t leave it as it is.
I can guess something like this:
Will this cause the Rank 9, like 500k RP to research? And even more expensive to buy and crew? or Rank 8 became cheaper like 300k RP? and cheaper to buy and crew?
Its almost like new, stronger planes are coming and Gaijin already said that they would be releasing Rank IX this year.
We don’t need 5th gen aircraft in Rank VIII.
Everything is up to the devs, but they usually don’t apply reductions straight away when adding a new rank.
For example, when they added Rank VIII in the Apex Predators update, the total SL/RP required to unlock all aircraft increased like this:

So overall, it became much harder to unlock everything. You usually have to wait about half a year to a year for the actual reductions. The last SL/RP reduction for the air tech tree was in the Sons of Attila (2023.09.19) update. Hopefully, it will happen sooner this time, ideally during the next major update.
