Meanwhile they ban people for changing the contrast using reshade … hypocrites
because ReShade is a third party software and just so happens to be banned in almost every major PvP game… I wonder why…
It isn’t banned in every major pvp game
As long as you didn’t modify any cfg files or shaders, inject something, it isn’t banned…
But guess how Reshade is working.
There where a plethora of players wich where banned in Final Fantasy a Realm Reborn for using Reshade, and that’s an MMO with a tiny PvP Part.
Pro Tip: Just stop using 3rd party Software and Mods and play vanilla.
That isn’t true. That is only really achievable with modern fire control systems.
In WWII even first round hits at 500m were a stretch. Most required a few “fire and adjust”, unless they were carefully sighted in. 88s and some STuGs (the PL’s) were some of the few vehicles that had rangefinders, and they could make those 1km shots, but even they were not perfect. Most tanks, even 88s and 76s, were no where near as precise as they are depicted in WT.
Reshade doesn’t inject anything in the game, or modify game files. It takes the output to the graphics API (DirectX, Vulkan, OpenGL) and can run effects on that before sending it for output to screen.
Reshade had some bad reputation because someone took its source code and modified it so the application could do things it wasn’t designed to do (Tarkov is a good example). Any AC program should be able to handle that because a modified reshade will have a different hash than the original (which is shared to AC program developers prior to each release for whitelisting).
Reshade isn’t a cheat program, people love to think so without actually looking into what it is and how it works.
I know what Reshade is for and used it to enhance graphical fidelity in multiple games.
But this software can easily be used to get specific advantages (visibility in Squad as an example) thus why you will be banned there, if it’s detected.
Squad doesn’t ban you for using reshade, it will just block opening the application when reshade is detected and will unban reshade once certain functionality in reshade is blocked (eg. keybinds). It’s up to game devs to decide to allow reshade or not. It isn’t an inherent cheat program.
Ps. I’m one of the reshade shader coders
Maybe not the Dev Team on every occasion, but on many servers you’ll get a ban, because Reshade is - used unmodded and for the intended purpose - a powerful tool wich WILL get you an ADVANTAGE over regular vanilla players.
I’ve got no problem with 3rd party Software in pure single player PVE games, but if there’s an advantage - Wich you definitely got - from using Reshade in those pvp games, it’s down to the rule of using 3rd party Software.
Here you can find a list with games that have Reshade banned/blocked: ReShade - PCGamingWiki PCGW - bugs, fixes, crashes, mods, guides and improvements for every PC game
This is regularly updated when we get reports of people being banned, or being announced by game dev. This is of course only for the official Reshade build (which is whitelisted by AC). Anyone getting banned anywhere using a modified Reshade version – which, f.e., enables access to depth buffer in online games which is blocked in the official release to make shaders that can look through smoke or detect people in pitch darkness (see Tarkov, which happened on a malicious build of Reshade) – is not Reshade’s fault, these are malicious actors which ruin the fun for everyone. Everyone involved with Reshade tries to avoid this to the best of our abilities.
All normal abilities of Reshade, manipulating brightness, contrast, colors, adding bloom, DoF, CA, noise, etc won’t give a competitive edge over anyone else. What is often brought up to make “night look like day” isn’t something you need Reshade for… you can just load special color profiles in Windows, or manipulate brightness/contrast in many of the game menu’s (ie. see Polynom tonemapper in WT for example).
Not only that, but running Reshade adds a significant amount of input lag, often around 100ms depending on the effect load, which is something competitive gamers really do not like to have and a massive disadvantage in the upper echelons of competitive gaming.
Another thing which I forgot to add, Reshade doesn’t hide itself from any detection method. Every game dev can easily see if any user has Reshade loaded.
You should update your info.
Stugs regulary fought at beyond 1km range.
Kursk is noted as a close quarters fight of tanks with the average distance between tanks of around 300m
The usual engagementrange of a stug was 700m to 1km, the same goes for the Pz IV a panther and tiger extended that to almost 1500m. Ofc shots beyond 1km range where dicy, but crews where trained for that and could accurately estimate these ranges without rangefinders. The biggest problem was the optics of the gunner, not the ability of the commander to estimate the range.
Your statement is therefore only true for 90-100% first shot and hot scenarious, my statement is however only regarding the ability to estimate the range and shoot at the target, not about accuracy of that first shot made by the gunner.
There is a reason why rangefinders where not fitted into every rank even post WWII. And that is that production of gunnery optics and stable rounds was not at a level necessitating such measures. A Rangefinder is afterall only needed past 1500m.
Even the soviets stated that the engagement range for a T34 85 against a Tiger should be around 1000m to ensure a penetration and also maintain protection.
Normal T34s shoudl engage from around 300m frontally and 500-600m from the sides.
Additional, if you would claim a position and defend it, every ridge, building etc would have been given a distance…
As well if you would engage that said position.
So if your defending or approaching a point and someone has identify a target, you already got your “aiding target” for that distance and direction.
Accuracy was not only achieved nowadays.
…
Its not a cheat but its used as cover for cheating sorry something you like cant be trusted and no I wont take players word saying im not using it to cheat…
Define “cheat” because reshade can’t “highlight” enemies, do wallhacks, do automatic tracking/aiming, measure distance, or any of those functions you see in actual cheats
Warthunder regarding Reshade :
“The game will ban users which it detects have ReShade loaded without warning”
People do write up novels and it’s simple as that.
Got this from your own quoted site @dot
Dude, I put that quote there after various reports of people getting banned when using Reshade
Yeah, maybe i missed smth, not a native speaker…
But in the end it’s forbidden Software in Warthunder?
I don’t need to do mental gymnastics to realize, that you’ll gain a clearly visual advantage when using Reshade outside of the Ingame Warthunder filters und sharpening tools.
So where’s the point to still advertise Reshade?
Sure, the softwares goal wasn’t to provide Aimbots etc., but you still are injecting code into an .dll and even if not, you gain a advantage by using this software.
I can understand and i’m supporting Gaijin on this matter to not allow Reshade in their games.
An advantage still is an advantage.
I remember the time when a smartphone app included a distance indicator and IIRC distance rings fot WT.
The app could stay, but they were forced to remove the range finding options/displays…
Don’t suppose you have an answer in regards to the main question then. I’d imagine this would fall within your area as GM for rule enforcement in-game.
