This is more or less just gonna have stuff i can’t QUITE confirm but i would love if the devs saw.
Btw gaijin guys, if you do see this. Don’t just ignore this, yall have don’t more questionable stuff (MiG-29s missing R-73s and having R-27ERs, if anything they should have R-27Rs at best. Any case)
Side note from more confirmed sources.
The AIM-4s had a confirmated kill ratio of 9.3% in Vietnam
The early sidewinders had a kill ratio of around 15% but the aim-9G was much higher
The AIM-7 had around 10% kill chance in Vietnam, but that is including the AIM-7E-2.
Aim-4s. from stuff i’ve sniffed out. The AIM-4s only had issues when used by F-4 phantoms, particularly because the F-4s where missing key avionics. Key avionics that allowed the aim-4 to have 40 different guidance modes.
And apparently one of these 40 guidance modes was used in the AIM-9X
The AIM-4s also are surprisingly on part with early sidewinders maneuverability wise as well. So, the aim-4s in game should act more like a 9B off the rails of the f-106.
I’ve also heard that the AIM-4D/G were also the very first limited all aspect missiles. And very much liked high altitudes as well
And a bit more about why the aim-4s preformed badly for the f-4s. I don’t know exactly, I’ve heard stuff about maybe inadequate cooling, avionics, and about the fact the AIM-4s also were in a region of turbulent airflow.
The aim-4s for the F-106 and F-101 worked fine, maybe proper cooling, or some other variables I don’t know about
So just maybe buff the aim-4s a bit. And give the current terrible ones to the F-4C and 4E
Also, and this is questionable information to me so i will actually say be very skeptical of the “max ranges”… the AIM-4 (base model. Yes, the 4A is an improved version) had a range of 8km. aim-4A/B/C/D had a range of 9.7km… And the aim-4F/G had a range of 11.3 km max
AIM-7s now.
The F3D-1M/2M skynight could have used the aim-7A sparrow 1 which was a beam riding AAM at the time. And is hardly more than an enlarged HVAR with guidance kit. And it should be noted the Aim-7A was useless against maneuvering targets
I want to note the AIM-7B sparrow 2 as a unique thing. Although the aim-7B was never used. It would have been one of the first FOX-3s, as it had its own radar for active guidance. And was intended to be a primary weapon of a few interceptors… The aim-7B wasn’t practical due to its active radar’s limited performance, and also that it never actually worked in testing.
Aim-7E-4, which was more or less a Aim-7-E-2 but designed around high powered radars like what the F-14 uses.
The AIM-7F was apparently the first aim-7 to be compatible with Pulse-Doppler radars. Also the AIM-7F-11 was a varient with the MK 71 warhead, a 39KG warhead
The AIM-7M would have been the first U.S fox-1 with “great” look-down shoot-down capabilities due to having a inverse monopulse seeker… And i have seen a few things that have implied that the aim-7M and P either had varients or in general could loft… So maybe the 7M/P should get lofting
Aim-9s
Aim-9A/B could apparently pull 12Gs… Not sure about that, let alone IF the seeker head could keep a track in a situation like that, it does imply the 9E pulls 12Gs as well…
There is a AIM-9E-2 which has a reduced smoke moter
I’ve heard that the aim-9H should actually pull up to 20Gs.
Their are many aim-9Ps in USAF inventory as well… So semi-modern USAF jets should get aim-9Ps (f-15s, F-16s)
I’ve heard a few things about early aim-9Xs. Such as the prototype and maybe 1st gen 9Xs having a 9M seeker. Either case… It may be time for a early AIM-9X to come along vehicles with AIM-120C-5s
That’s all I have at this point
