Yeah but like which f-16, some have worse engines than others. While all rafales engines have essentially same thrust (not fuel consumption tho)
I would assume atleast the F-16C since that does have the worst STR against all other forms of F-16s in US service no?
Depends on which f-16c, there’s cs from block 30 with old engines from a (220) to block 50 with the ge 129 with much more thrust
I have stronger f16c charts with pw229/ge 129 but I’m unsure if they’re unclassified
Or maybe it’s just pilot that have matter there, i’m pretty sure an US veteran pilot will be better than a normal egyptian pilot. :)
Could have drop tank like it could have not.
also this vid:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynNENLJAfvA
The particular magazine was made in 2006, and as far as I’m finding it, all the engines mentioned were installed in the 90’s so it doesn’t make it clear
For all we know he could be fighting a f16a block 10 with the best sustained turn rate or the f-16d with the worst. It really depends on the model of f16
Its also just a pilots account of how good their jet is compared to everyone elses, which is a notoriously unreliable source, particularly from certain nations like france/china/russia/india, and should be taken with a grain of salt and not actual gospel on inter-aircraft performance.
That being said, it wouldnt surprise me if the Rafale has the superior STR, but the “game plan” discussed by thr pilot for Rafale vs F-16 makes it sound like the entire gameplan they run in Rafale vs F-16 dogfights is to not allow the F-16 to rely on STR, seeing as he says they continue to point the nose at the F-16 to force it to tighten its circle and lose its speedn while the F-16 will always try to keep their speed and energy up. So if the Rafale does have the edge in STR, its likely nowhere near as pronounced as the edge it has in ITR (which makes sense, since the close coupled canard delta is very good in ITR, and the F-16 is known to be somewhat mid in ITR and very good in STR)
Really? I thought close coupled canards are actually not as good at ITR (as opposed to long coupled canards for example).
Close coupled canards allow the canard to energize the vortex over the wing at high aoa, which is something long armed canards cant do, this enhances the wings lift in those scenarios, retains lateral stability, and control surface authority.
Long armed canards have more pitch authority and typically higher pitch rates along with it from my understanding, but the high aoa lateral instability kind of limits its useability to my understanding, which is what AMK on the typhoon is fixing.
Between the 2, CC ducks likely have higher practical ITR while LA ducks likely have higher theoretical ITR (unless high AOA concerns are accounted for with something like AMK), so the Rafale would have superior nose authority in most flight regimes
That being said, I was talking about the Rafale vs the F-16, and the F-16 is a tailed delta, so not much point in bringing in the EFT’s config in this case.
full context is unknown in this video.
but “ok”
AFAIK it depends on the speed because of the lift-to-drag ratio. At high speeds the induced drag is lower for close-coupled canards, so the ITR is higher. This reverses at low speeds.
Three Rafale enemy pilots on a map with the MICS EM is just a slaughter. The F15C GE has ESA radar and it doesnt do squat. I have literally subsequently fired 6 Aim120A’s at a Rafale less than 10 miles away it notched everyone of my missles and shot me down even as I was notching and yankin and bankin still got me with the MICA EM. I get more kills with my F15C MSIP II ffs…

The Raptor isn’t invisible on radar but has the radar cross section of something akin to the size of an insect or to a small bird. So if they detected a small bird, then yes they may have detected it or they just detected a bird flying. But how many birds are in the sky? And radars are designed to filter that signature out. This is still in the convo of the topic at hand between Rafale and the other 14.3 in game being we are comparing! Stop being picky Mods of what people say just cause you don’t like it or agree with my post doesnt mean others don’t agree.
Even if that bird is faster than 200-300 km/h? I don’t think so.
Pulse doppler my guy… a f22 raptor wont be flying at 40 kmph
realistically, we dont know, depends highly on frequency, angle of illumination etc.
The EO and IRST systems present on 80% of other top tier airframes you’ll be fighting do not care about raptor’s stealth in the slightest
it is not necessarily that stealth wouldnt work the issue is that WT maps are to small for it to work
we would need atleast maps that have 2 or 3 times the size of the current ones for it to make any difference in the game
