As currently, the Typhoon has to have a clear shot (no HOBS) and the target cannot be within about 1.5-2km for Aim-9M to be effective.
In a WVR dogfight, the Rafale will always win.
If the Typhoon could threaten the Rafale equally, they would not be able to win the WVR with absolute impunity and the fight would return to being more BVR focused where the Typhoon has the advantage. Especially when it gets CAPTOR-E Soon™. The Rafales would actually have to play defensively
I know you like to pretend that MICA IR is a generation above ASRAAM, IRIS-T, etc. But it is not. ASRAAM and IRIS-T are more than capable of matching it in every theatre except max range, which is probably going to be balanced via lock ranges like the Aim-9M currently is
Though they could also just remove the Rafales HMD. That would also balance top tier quite nicely

Yes because the problem right now is that the Rafale is the only highly agile plane with access to a highly agile missile. The EF is also a highly agile plane but it’s missiles are useless in situations where this agility could shine.

Though I think its not going to be that big of a deal. It is unlikely they will add LOAL to only a single IR Missile. and I can see lock range caps.
The likelyhood is that ASRAAM and MICA IR are going to perform very similarly

Would be ASRAAM for the RAF Typhoon. IRIS-T for the German Typhoon and one or the other for the Italian Typhoon (giving them both I think would be too OP and it would be unfair to give Italy both and not all 3 both)

Eurofighter received HMD IFF this patch. This is basically 6 months too late to matter for sim players. A solid year of thing A being the meta-mobile and thing B being the only other somewhat viable (and a less viable counter as time goes on) is just not good for maintaining interest in core gameplay loop.

Italian one uses iris t in service, they trialed asraam but liked iris t more.
