Idk about this one. Sure it might be struggling in BVR since MICA does not perform good at longer ranges (at least that is what i have heard by people on the forums), and that should be improved, however surviving intial BVR is not that tough IMO. Even a average player like me can survive that phase easily and within 20-25km mica perform very good due to its seeker. Rafale already has one of the best FM in game, one of the best close range missile and probably good players as well. It has almost dominated in WVR for more than a year now and only now it has started to get its equivalent in other nations.
It’s not worth trying to do BVR when your limited 8 missiles could be stolen by an AIM-120C launched by a chad Eurofighter that fired it from 50km away. You’re just cosplaying as a Eurofighter at that point.
Notice in your video that you’re firing from under 30km, and your RWR and MAWS is going crazy, and you also fired at a target that doesn’t have as much impact for their team like a Eurofighter or Su-30. And interestingly you also did not bother to shoot more than 1 missile, which I can guess comes from a fear of wasting your missiles while that isn’t a concern for something like an SU-30.
tbh i would’ve if i was actually paid attention to the nctr, didn’t realize i was firing on a “jet”
not really, rafale is so good at high altitude (imo even better than eurofighter) that it’s more like eurofighter is cosplaying as rafale
you can ignore the rwr/maws going crazy 99% of the time, as always if you notch well, you can defeat anything. notched like 20 missiles and an r27er there
oh definitely, if I was in an su-30sm2 in that position, I would’ve fired like 6 r77s easily
the thing is the su-30sm2 is never getting into that postition due to how anemic the fm is (compared to rafale or euro)
when i play su-30sm2, i usually fire off 2- 3 missiles early game cause you can’t get into as good of a position in terms of altitude and speed.
the only bad thing about rafale honestly is as you’ve said, the missile count.
Radar is fine, but not exceptional these days (su-30sm2 has me smitten with its radar)
huh? when i play Su-30SM2 i don’t spend more than 1 missile per target too.
burning time
burning time? wym
like on the mica? IMO it would be better if it had it’s real performance, that’s obvious. Less burning time but giga acceleration + short burn time
MICA-EM has 2,75secs of rocket burning time, after that it just glides. it has a really low burning time (tho not comparable to AIM-120B which has a 1,7secs burning time).
You forgot about its incorrectly modeled sustainer in game
it has 4 second sustainer
i know, i’m just watching the Google Sheet’s “Guided weaponry data”.
u want the link or u already have it?
I assume you’re talking about gzabis? i alrdy use it
you should compare total burn time, i think mica em actually has third longest burn time after the amraams.
Realistic mica would have like a 3 second burn time but with even more thrust than it has now
u mean "total ΔV: [m/s] "?
i mean just add these 2 rows to find total burn time

“Compete in” isn’t a synonym of “being the best at”, the MICA can compete in BVR, because when you BVR, you don’t look for the kill, you look towards putting your enemy into the defensive so they don’t get free space to rain missiles into your team from 15 km away, it’s not the missile, it’s the RWR warning that places them into the defensive what you should be looking for.
The missile can travel 50 km on its own. However, at the earliest moments of the game, everyone is going Mach 1+ straight into the enemy team, and the Rafale going Mach 1.5+ at ~9000 m allows for max. missile launch ranges of up to 90 km IF the target does NOT change direction nor speed, which is common in the early game. The MICA won’t make more than 50 km, the enemy plane will go into the MICA, which translates into the MICA being able to reach the target. Of course you won’t be firing a MICA at those ranges, but since your target will be going into the missile until it gets an RWR warning, the missile will reach with more kinetic energy, which means it can be used in BVR
As far as I’m aware, during the russian devstream for the Leviathan’s update, BVV_D stated that the 5th generation of IR missiles (AIM-9X, IRIS-T, R-74M, ASRAAM, A-Darter, AAM-5, PL-10, MICA-IR and Python-5) would be added once stealth aircraft were added to all nations in game, so we probably won’t see them for a bit
oh yeah, i didn’t see it before XD
i was looking at the stats of the swiss AIM-120B, it’s hard for me to look at stats when u’re searching for a missile far from the legends that tell u what u’re exactly looking at.
When did he say this?
the new Su-30SM2 doesn’t even need to look at u to get a hard-lock, AESA Eurofighters can crank, and idk if the Gripen-E and J-15T can crank too. as i remember, Rafale can’t.
they can pretty much lock u and launch a missile so u start going defensive like them and leave the notch while u’re starting it.
- u’re still insane if u launch MICAs over 20km
- at least me, everybody uses 100& RWR sensitivity, which means everybody will get an RWR warning even at the start of the match
- i doubt if u can test it in WT cuz u would need a friend + going into that specific situation in a custom match, but would u mind showing me how it hits at that range?
didn’t they say stealth aircraft would come like in June?
I don’t remember them saying that. Though i do remember they said second half of 2026. Since December update is mainly focused on Air, i believe stealth would be added in December update. But then Oxy said stealth won’t be added this year.
Yeah that’s fair. Though I’d argue it only matters for su-30sm2 cause eurofighter missiles are garbage off bore.
IMO best 5 planes goes like this:
30sm2
Rafale
Aesa euro
Su-30sm/mkm
Grippy e
Before the single pop buff for rafale I would’ve had eurofighter above it but since then you can now play a whole lot more aggressive with rafale which really lets it shine
