Using TWS in finnish F18 lose lock then stays searching in the same spot after even after switching radar modes turning radar off and back on. TWS does not recenter after hitting acm mode quick on and off. Is this a new bug how do I get it back to normal. How do I fix this?
Not only F-18 issue, all of my jets do this in TWS mode, if you lose a lock when your gimble is not centered it doesnt reset anymore and keeps pointing in that direction.
Tried to fix this by binding “reset radar/IRST direction to boresight” but on some vehicles, example Mirage 2000 5ei it does center the gimble horizontally, but not vertically.
I just tested the key bind works for me thank you, but I should not have to do that every time. Are they going to fix it back to normal or add another setting to make it go back to center automatically?
yeah, it doesn’t center vertically Just tried it in an F14 it makes it unplayable in any jet to counter a fox 3 with one of your own to pressure them when you are out of acquire mode or HMD range, if your radar is not looking the right way. I haven’t been playing top tier because of this can anyone help? are some people not affected I’m confused I can’t find anything in the forums about this change.
First of all, this topic might be closed since there’s many other topics that talk about this same issue.
Anyways, if the button to reset it to boresight doesn’t work, you’ll have to do it manually, which is a pain when you’re under pressure. That, and you should file a community bug report so that the devs get to know the issue. For horizontal, you should use the Horizontal Radar/IRST target cue control axis key bind and for vertical the ‘Radar/IRST tilt control axis’ the Vertical Radar/IRST one is just to select the target manually. Hope it helps.
I really hope it doesn’t because they are all getting closed just by saying it is a feature and not a bug (Update 2.45.0.21 - Updates - Game - War Thunder) and to just add a boresight keybind. The boresight keybind, like said above, makes the TWS useless when it starts to scan space because it is only resetting the horizontal while the vertical remains at the top so this suggestion is really only a half measure. I personally don’t mind the extra keybind as I just set it to the same as my change radar target so it is nothing extra, but it would be better if it recentered BOTH horizontally and vertically.
Weirdly enough, when I press the Reset Radar/IRST direction to boresight it resets both horizontally and vertically. I think that’s why I told him to file a community bug report, either you have the problem or I have it (not blaming anyone), just saying that it works for me, but I don’t know if it’s intended or not.
Looks like today’s patch fixes a bunch of radar stuff…including the TWS which we were told was not a bug but a new feature…Whoever said that at Gaijin obviously didn’t have any idea what they were talking about. And they ask us to report bugs only to be told it’s not and our ticket gets closed. Are people looking at radar bugs actually know how they work??? What a complete joke. At least, it seems it should be fixed.

I don’t see any mention of that new feature being changed here?
That’s the thing. When it was reported as a bug. Tickets were closed and people were told it was a new feature…it’s not. Maybe we’re talking about another bug fix for TWS. Guess today’s play will clarify some things
As far as i understand it, it is a new feature and not a bug.
i didnt test the new button but if i understand correctly the issue is the radar not being centered vertically as well. meaning your radar will stay staring into the void even after pressing the new button.
i personally hate the change.
why do i need to bind another goddamn button just to center my radar when it just worked before.
Most people seem like they hate that too. Top tier Air RB is already pretty chaotic without having to have to recentre your radar when you lose lock. I don’t get why that was needed.
Just checked and the boresight keybind remains the same, seems like their “feature” they added still wasn’t working so that was all they fixed (“Here are some other radar bug fixes: Firstly, a bug where it was impossible to move the radar scanning area horizontally or vertically in the track-while-scan mode.”). I do not use the new feature as I already use too many buttons so I have not tested that.
